My Corgi has inflamed skin under his "arms" in his arm pits

I turned Winston over last night to rub is stomach and found rather large areas in both arm pits that were very red and inflamed. He is very deep chested and I was wonder if this was friction issue along with his skin sentivity. Has anyone had this issue? Any remedies that worked?

Aber used to get this, along with some redness on his belly. The vet said it was contact dermatitis from seasonal allergies. Without doing a battery of tests, we couldn't be sure what it was, but being a lowrider, pretty much anything on the ground that popped up in the spring and fall was suspect.

I started adding vitamin E and Evening Primrose Oil to his food and it helped. It helped more if I started using it before the problem started up, so he'd never get red at all.

If it is allergies from grass or something like that you could try wiping him down with a hypoallergenic baby wipe when he comes in from outside.

This has been happening to our dog too, and the vet said it was seasonal allergies with maybe some yeast as well. Has he been chewing on his paws at all? We have been bathing Merlin more often in an oatmeal/aloe shampoo (earthbath), wiping off his feet with baby wipes whenever he comes in from outside, giving him fish oil on a more regular basis, and using some sort of herbal allergy treatment that we got from the vet. I wouldn't say that this has made him 100% better, but there has been a big improvement.

Unfortunately one of his human cousins thought it would be a good idea to give him 4 pieces of bread last weekend and he's been having some sort of severe reaction to one of the grains (he usually has a grain-free diet). His seasonal stuff has been multiplied a whole lot and he's actually been chewing at himself so much he's pulling out his fur and getting scabs.

Hope Winston feels better soon and that you get to the bottom of what's going on with him!

Try using some cornstarch baby powder to help keep the area dry. We had an australian shepard that had the same issue. We actually though it heat related but never knew for sure. Good luck! ^,,^

yogi has this problem when he gains weight....a bit of a diet for a couple weeks fixes this problem for him...it only happens when he's not very active..not sure if it's the same problem with ur baby...yogi also has a big chest that allows rubbing frictions when he walks and runs.
