First of all, thanks to everybody for the warm welcome. We are hoping for some information and advice from people with knowledge and experience about the breed.

My mother and grandmother have a three year old Pembroke Corgi that has in the last year begun to show signs of aggressiveness and possessiveness. She has always shown signs of being headstrong and dominant, but did not harm the family (two women - one adult and one senior). However, in the past several months, she began growling at and biting family members (resulting in torn skin and puncture wounds). She is usually very sweet and playful, so these acts of aggression came as a surprise. We would see her lying down in the hallway (awake) and kneel down to pet her, then be bitten. Alternatively, she bit my brother while he brushed her coat. My family is too afraid to groom her now. After some research, we assessed that the biting began after my family adopted a rescue dog one year ago. (she bit once before then but it was related to taking food away from her, which seems more expected.) She is very dominant towards the new dog, growling and nipping at him. He is a senior Daschund. We have made arrangements for the rescue dog to go to my brother's home, though we hate to move him. We are also making arrangements for our corgi to be spayed, hoping this might help a little. My grandmother is very attached to the corgi, having walked her everyday for an hour since she was adopted. We also love her very much despite repeat attacks. We are researching our options and will move forward with the two aforementioned steps. My family is also low-income, therefore costly private training is unfortunately not a realistic option for us. They both have grown up with Boston Terriers and Akitas. She is also a pure bred, if that means anything regarding behavior. Thank you so much and sorry for the lengthy post.
