WOW
Denied the dog who was clearly in pain and messed up? That's so heartless. People really can be disgusting:( I hope the dog gets some kind of treatment.
Poor Jogi:(
I feel his pain. I was in the ER like five seperate times over the last month because everytime I went in, they would tell me I was "normal" and that they didn't know what was wrong and why anything wasn't working! (I'm still all messed up too! I finally should be able to get a doctor's appointment tomorrow, though xD)
Poor pup:( I hope he makes a full recovery!
That's great news---poor little guy.
I have to say that my admittedly limited (thankfully) experience with emergency vets has all been negative and they have always been about the benjamins first and foremost. Trust me, I understand it's a business. However, it's unconscionable to deny an animal treatment--especially when quick response is key--because they owners can't pay up this minute. In my experience (one of two), they raised the estimate, wouldn't do surgery until they received 1/2 of the top end of the estimate in advance, then after we had left, they raised the estimate again, and demanded more money before they would operate. $4500 later, the level of care was appallingly bad. We were going to file a complaint against them, but they went out of business before we could--just shut the doors and took off in the middle of the night. Sadly, one of the surgeons there has gone on to open another clinic under a different business name,
Wow. Glad Jogi is back to normal. This is a good thing to think about. I have never looked into an emergency vet, and luckily never had to up to this point (had 1 emergency with my uncle's dog that I was watching but luckily, it was normal vet hours). Looks like I have a project on my hands and a phone call to Scout's vet (need to set up a vaccination appt anyway).
I actually need to research more vets down here. The one we are at now seems ok (the only thing we've had to do there was get flea preventative and a kennel cough vaccine before I thought I'd have to board her), but some coworkers have really good vets they go to that I'm thinking about trying out. May be even more advantageous if my fiance and I get a puppy next year.
Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud on this post right now, so I'm done.
I too have limited experience with emergency clinics and vet which is good but I do know that they are expensive. Did you find out what was the matter? Did I miss the post where you told us if it was a bite or sting?
Is that really what happened? If that is the case I think it has happened to me as well.
