At what age does the coloring change on a corgi puppy.  I have noticed alot of puppies that are  dark in the face turn out more brown when they are full grown.  However I have seem some that pretty much remain dark as they where when they are a pup.   I am wondering if Sophie will stay dark like she is or if her black on her face will turn more brown.  She is 4 months old right now.

I'm no expert, but I think the fact that the black completely encircles her eyes is a good indication that she'll be a black headed tri-color. Any experts out there?

I've heard that the black tips insider her ears indicate BHT, but I'm not sure.  She does look like she's staying black to me.  I think you'd see mottling by now if she were turning red.

She looks like a BHT to me as well. Her tan markings might spread a bit as she gets older but she won't fade like a RHT.

I'm betting she's a black-headed tri.  The inside tips of her ears are black and she has that black mask on her face.  You may see, as others have said, the tan markings spread a bit as she grows, but she won't fade or end up with a completely red or tan face.

Here is a pictures when Snickers was only a few months old. You can definitely tell she is a red head.

Looks like a BHT.  BHT is recessive to RHT, so each parent must carry it.

The red should be almost complete at 1 yo I think.

I agree with others, she is a black headed tri. The insides of her ears have black lining which means she will likely stay black headed. One thing that happened with Franklin is that he lost the white on his head. He used to have a little white mohawk that faded and is now almost completely gone. His mask didn't change much but his undercoat is brown/gray so it made the black on his head look a bit lighter.
