Becca got home from her spay about an hour ago. I called to check on her and "You can come get her, she isn't liking us much." She isn't liking me much either, doesn't want to have anything to do with me at all. Becca is way out of sorts and sore, crying and trying to find a good spot to rest. I have pain pills for her tonight and tomorrow. I feel bad...Any suggestions to make her more comfortable?

The first 2 days are the worst. Not much you can do beyond giving her the pain pills. She will be back to her normal self before you know it and you will be struggling to keep her quiet. Hang in there.

Just give her the pain meds and keep her activity to a minimum. She will be over this long before you are!

Most of their discontentment the day of the surgery is the weird feeling they have after the anesthesia.  They are in a fog, and don't understand what's going on.  It's hard because you can't explain it either.  All of my females have reacted differently.  Some act like nothing has happened, and others are in their kennel for days.  I had one female that I had to force to come out to potty, and she literally barely ate or drank for 5 days.  She was kinda a weenie though.  But, I think it's mostly because she just feels weird.  She'll have a better attitude in the morning, but you'll probably still be able to tell she's not feeling the best.

Ace had a neuter surgery pretty close to a spay (as he had a retained testicle) and honestly, it's mostly the fog of general anesthesia talking. He was all out of sorts for a couple days, but was back to being sprightly and annoyingly active within less than a week. Like Melissa said, hang in there!

Well I had to go buy paper towels, could have sworn I had a roll stashed. Becca doesn't want to go out, but she peed on the floor. There are three steps down off the porch and it is raining. She thinks I am crazy for even asking her to go out. I didn't push the issue and I guess I should have. I'll make her go before bed and will carry her down the steps if I need to. She was allowed half of her normal supper and ate that no problem. The cat has been trying to wash her face and give sympathy. Becca doesn't want it. It would be funny if Becca wasn't so miserable.
