This is a perfect discussion for me. I just signed on to ask people the question "How do I make my corgi eat?"

We have two and the girl's a great eater but the boy is like the kid in the family who hates food. He ignores and/or picks at everything we give him (unless of course, it's the occasional bite of roast chicken). We've tried Newman's Own, Blue Buffalo, Wellness Core, Merrick, Evanger's, wet, dry...he just turns up his nose at everything.

He doesn't seem terribly thin, but he's definitely quite a bit thinner than the hearty corgis I usually see and thinner than his sister too. I'll be interested to see what other people have success with.

i understand completely! when i tell people that BOTH my corgis dont like to eat, noone believes me!

unfortunately, i am exactly where you are, no matter what i do they dont like to eat! i spent a good 3-4 months trying different things, switching their food, mixing their food, sitting with them, etc.

after feeding wellness core for a couple of months, i just switched them onto orijen and they seem to like it, and its easier for me to get them to eat. but that doesnt mean that they chow down.

both my corgis dont look thin either, but they arent nice and full looking like other corgis (if that makes any sense!)

its hard having a picky corgi ):

Oh thank god. I thought it was just me. :)

Your adult corgi on your pictures looks just like Milo - long, lean body, no fat. I'm so used to seeing chubby corgis, I thought mine was from another planet. Thanks for responding!

D'Arby was very picky and would stop eating after being around females until he was neutered.

But even after being neutered, he can still be affected in other ways when around female dogs or smells, including being less food obsessed.

Not sure if your boy is neutered or not or even if he is, perhaps he is this way due to the proximity of a female?

I dunno, just a thought.

Also, I see you have tried different brands, have you also tried different protein sources (chix vs beef vs lamb vs venison etc.) within brands?

Yup, he's indeed neutered and he's definitely gotta deal with a female - his sister, Maisie. :) She's the dominant one and I have seen that she can sometimes intimidate him with the food but even when she's not around, he's still not keen on eating.

I have tried different flavors - they seem to like chicken best. I tried beef and liver and neither of them really don't goes for them. Thanks!

Neilie...My corgi kids eat Darwins Raw and love it...if they need to eat kibbles I feed Acana Pacifica with a small amount of lowfat cottage cheese on it.   For the most part they get the kibbles for treats, too.

Fromm Gold Adult, a great brand with no corn or soy, and very affordable for the quality.  She gets 3/4-1 cup per day and can't get enough :D

My dag eats Merrick brand Grain Free Buffalo and Sweet Potato.

I swear by Fromm dry dog food! Makes my cardi's fur soft and they shed less!

My personal opinion is that Corgis do best with higher protein and a lot less carbs and they don't need grains.  The reason I say that is because most Corgis tend to be chow hounds and end up being overfed which can lead to a lot of health problems.   I think it's a bigger problem than a lot of people realize.  Keeping your Corgis weight down is important.

I have our dog food delivered from PetFlow.com which I highly recommend because they ship orders $49 and over free.

We feed ours Purina Pro Plan Lamb and Rice. Bowls are always empty :)

chloe is on wellness weight control...she is a little chunky monkey lol. she loves the food and has done well on it since the switch and lost a few pounds which is good.
