Wow, what a beauty! I can't say I have ever seen a dog quite like this one in appearance/size. There are dna kits you can order to get to the bottom of the mystery... here is one site that offers such kits: http://www.dnamydog.com

I was going to get a DNA kit but I heard its expensive

Looks like it could be a staffy/corgi cross maybe. Lots of families in Australia have them and they are exactly this type of brindle -. Or with the curly tail maybe a spitz - small german kind.  Had a brindle corgi this colour except with the corgi while markings.

It does have the same stands are the staffy. Maybe it is a cross between that breed

My Corgi is pretty short and small compared other corgi's. He might be mixed with a short breed

This was the closest I could come up with...I don't know what breed it is though...

That is extremely close but Ranger is alot smaller. He's even smaller then most corgi's

I would like to say that this is what your pup may be. My Sammie is half lab and she a very small corgi size so your dog could be half larger breed. Just may have take the smaller side of his family tree.

That's a strong possiblity. I guess he had the short end of the stick in this case. short :(

Schipperke/Corgi maybe? Smallish spitz type dog, can be a little mischievous, about as big as a standard chihuahua.

Wow it looks like he could be that kind of mix

Yeah, he looks very spitz-like with a more squarish muzzle and larger ears, so I'm thinking cardigan x smaller spitz. Not sure if either of those breeds could result in that coloring, though. Knowing more about what he likes would offer clues as well - does he like to dig, chase, retrieve, bark/howl; is he more protective or social?
