Hi Karen, we also cook our dogs food and I add krill oil, kelp, diatomaceous earth for parasites, and this supplement sold by Wysong. Can you tell me the name of the powder mix you use and where you get it ? Thank you !
I'm so happy to read about someone else using DE for parasites. I mentioned it once a few years back and was told it's made of glass and would slice my dogs' intestines :). This was after I said I'd tried it on myself first. Sigh. It's great for fleas as well. I'd much rather a natural solution than dosing with insecticides and neurotoxins.
I think a lot of people don't realize there's food grade of diamotaceous earth so they think we're feeding our dogs the stuff they use for pool filters ! HA ! I It thought the only way dogs would benefit from it for fleas was if you rubbed it into their fur, and sprinkled it on the rugs and in the yard, but after we started giving it internally ours didn't seem to have fleas anymore. My main goal was to get rid of internal parasites. With so many dogs getting cancer I just can't bring myself to inflict our dogs with the toxins in spot on flea treatments. :)
We switched a couple of months ago from Chicken Soup for Dog Lover's Soul to Taste of the Wild, Salmon. It's made a huge difference! Without going into details, let's just say I haven't had to hose down Lucy's butt weekly. Plus their coats are shinier and we don't need to add Omega 3 supplements. So we're really happy. Poo poo poo. Pun intended–– but I'm also very superstitious.
THANK YOU ! We recently started shopping at Costco and I hadn't noticed their organic meat. Organic meaning it's grass fed and the cows aren't given any steroids or antibiotics ? Or are they fed grain but they verify that it doesn't contain any GMO's.
I use that GMO website; thank you for sharing it. I've just learned that a lot of places say their products are organic, but it's not always clear what they mean by that. My basic question was whether that meat from Costo came from cows that were fed grains that were not genetically modified, or if they were grass fed. Either one would make them organic. :) I'm excited to check out that meat the next time we go. Thanks again !
I don't think Costco's meat is grass-fed unless it's specifically labeled that way. "Organic" isn't the same as "grass-fed." The beef is great but it doesn't taste at all like Whole Foods' grass-fed beef. And the pork is too cheap to be either organic or grass-fed.
Thank you Vicky.
