Gizmo just turned two, and we've finally decided to get him neutered.  It's been a difficult decision for us, but I feel the health benefits win in this situation.  My only concern is that since he is already two, it will change his behavior/personality.  Obviously there are some things he does that I hope will decrease after the surgery, like his need to hump other dogs all the time and his occasional aggression/growling.  But I met a woman yesterday with a corgi at the dog park, and she had a muzzle over his mouth.  She said he had gotten snippy ever since she neutered him at one, and claimed it was because she waited too long to neuter.

Anyone have experience of positive/negative behavior changes after neutering a corgi that's no longer a puppy?

Rocky was neutered at 18 months and is as sweet as ever. The above lady probably needs to do some serious training. The humping is not a sexual thing, it's a dominance thing.

Buddha was neutered at 2.5 Years old. He's now 11 and just as good of a dog as when he was intact. I would guess that the owner ( or maybe the breeder even) of the dog at the park did something or missed something in the dog's training and socialization to end up with a muzzle. Just my opinion on hat matter though.
If your dog is well behaved and all that jazz before and you treat him no different, I wouldn't worry. They don't need nuts to be a good dog.

Wynn was neutered at 9(he was my stud when I was breeding)...he's just like before although he's always been good but had his own opinions on things:) I wouldn't wait! My rescue Teddy was neutered at about 6-7 when I got him...since I didn't know him before I can't say but he is a sweetheart!

We got Buddy almost a year ago. He was about 2 years old and was a stud. I had the breeder neuter him before we got him (we have another male corgi from the same breeder- we neutered him as a pup) and he is the sweetest dog ever and so cuddly (and doesn't hump!).

I know that you all are talking about males...Max was neutered when we got him and any other males we've had thru the years were done as pups.  Katie was spayed at the age of 4 after her 2nd litter with the breeder.   She is still just as sweet and loving as ever.  Humping is a dominance thing and even dominant females have been known to do it so it's not just a male thing.
