im getting exhausted from trying to tire Baden out! lol i dont mind so much as i am very active and like to stay busy but its hard to keep him happy at times. Baden goes to the park for about an hour or more every day which includes playing with other dogs or play fetch. on the days he dosnt go to the park, I take him on about 40 minuet walks and later that evening we play fetch indoors or a good game of chase.

but now my poor boy seems to be getting bored :/ even with his food, he dosnt want to eat it unless hes starving. like he needs something to break routine but unfortunately i live in small town and the good places to go are about 40 minuets away such as Sacramento or Roseville. with gas being so expensive i cant afford to take him every day.  so what are some things you do with your corgis to get them to perk up and keep them happy? :)

Agility training is good. Cassie loved it and learned to jump over objects at our park that she would never have thought of trying before.

How about a play date with a friend's, neighbor's, or relative's dog? When my son brings Charley the Retriever over, he REALLY runs the ginger off Ruby the Corgi Pup.

They're highly energetic dogs and need a surprising amount of exercise. IMHO.

your defiantly right about that! a walk twice a day just isnt enough for Baden. he does love to play with my neighbors dog but our schedules have been a little off because of work but we do try. but my other neighbor is getting a corgi puppy!! so that is exciting :)

There are puzzle toys for dogs that you hide little treats or pieces of kibble in and they have to figure out how to operate the toy to get the treat out --- knocking pieces away, pushing sliding doors aside, etc. We got two of these for Sophie and she loves them. Even once she has solved them, she has to go back and "double check her work" to be sure she hasn't missed a treat.

thank you for this idea, i remembered i had bought a puzzle toy like that for him when he was pup but after the move here to CA i totally forgot about it so tonight i set it all up. took a few tries but he soon figured it out and had a good time playing with it. after a few round of fetch and this toy hes pretty tired and happy

I agree with many of the other posts. Engage his brain, tricks, agility, anything that makes him think.

I read this article awhile ago. I hadn't thought about how adrenalin would affect drive.

Interesting article. Makes sense. Reminded me of how little kids get too riled up sometimes when they get playing hard.

Baden is a cutie! Glad that the puzzle toy idea helped. Corgis are generally a smart breed and they need "problems" to solve as well as physical activity. Maybe hiding his kibble in the puzzle toy will make it more interesting for him. You are lucky to have a corgi who won't eat unless he's truly hungry --- many of them are chow hounds who will gobble anything at anytime. Sophie's seizure meds tend to make her hungry all the time and she NEVER turns down a meal or treat (unless given by a stranger out in public, thank goodness!).
