Campbell is the craziest dog I have ever known when it comes to water.
She wades every chance she gets, and does the classic "water-bowl-dig" all the time; but the thing that drives me nuts is that she wants to take a bath with me. Seriously!
The first time I took a bath she was just 9 weeks old, and she would not stop barking till I set her on my chest in the bath.
Now at 16 weeks, she actually jumped into the bath with me! It didn't even phase her that she was submerged in water - she just bit at the bubbles, and licked me silly.
The problem is that right now it is cute, but when she is 25 pounds, I am not so sure it will be. Plus, what a mess she makes of the bathroom!
I suppose I can crate her if it gets bad; just wondering if anyone else has ever experience this behavior. Maybe she will grow out of it?

Something tells me if I started soaping her down in there it would be a different story altogether :)
Really! That's amazing... Cassie hates, loathes, and despises water! When I first sprang her from the dog pound, she literally would want to cross the street if she saw sprinklers going on someone's lawn.
Haven't been able to take a real bath since all this stupid surgery started, but when I was actually bathing (as opposed to lightning-fast showers), she would sit in the bathroom and watch me with a worried look on her face, as if she thought at any moment I was likely to drown. And whenever I'd go in the pool, she'd launch into a barking frenzy -- I soon learned that she had to go inside the house if the humans wanted to swim.
Ruby is fascinated by the bathing process (or at least was, until it came to a stop). She would climb up on the edge of the tub and try to lick me dry, anyplace where she could reach. She'll still do that when I get out of the shower. It's very funny!
Ah, poor Cassie! She must have been traumatized.
Maybe teach her that she's not allowed in the tub unless she waits for permission and climbs in it slowly (so as not to make a splash)?
And on the subject of Corgis and water mine, if I put her in the bath, she neither loves nor hates it, she just stands there lol
Splashing is not so bad - toenails are another story...
I'm a little confused. Are you saying that her toenails claw you when you're in the bath tub while she's playing in it? Or that her toenails are scraping the sides of the bath tub?
That she scratches me when she jumps in uninvited. I know she doesn't mean to.
When Randy was a pup, he loved water. I take showers in a tub and he would eagerly jump in and out of the back of the tub while I was trying to shower. The fun did decrease with time and he stopped doing it after a few months but since I wasn't sitting in the tub, I just ignored him and that took away some of the fun.
This is made me laugh out loud! So funny, but not to be encouraged as you noted. 25 LBS doesn't sound like that much, but as I say, corgis are basically cinder blocks with little legs. Not something I would want to land on me in the tub, plus I would worry about her getting injured. The licking while I was bathing would drive me nuts too, but that's just me. As a rule I make Sully "ask permission" before she does anything, such as sit on my lap, take treats, eat dinner. She actually gets excited about "asking for things in her canine way and I have a little have more control over what she gets into that way. Mostly it is for safety reasons, but I also don't like surprises. I extend the some courtesy to her as well though. I never force her to do anything she doesn't want to do unless it is really necessary. A couple of princesses we are :D. There are some great videos here of corgis jumping off docks in their little life jackets. Sounds like Campbell's future sport!
That is a good idea - having her ask to join me. Luckily, I have a garden tub so it will be doable for a while yet. And, yes, water is definitely a calling. I am getting ready to put up a blog post about her first hike along the river. She kinda scared me when she jumped in without hesitation. She was well secured, though.
My Penny is the same way. She LOVES water and I can not take a bath in peace. If I shut the door she scratches and barks and if I let her in the room I have to hold her back the whole time.
