Hello All,

During a belly scratch, I felt a weird crusty spot under Wyatt's armpit. Upon further inspection, he has a small cluster of scabs under his left armpit. I saw no fleas, and Wyatt hasn't been scratching or biting his fur. He seems to be happy and unfettered with these icky scabs. Though I'm concerned that he may have an allergy or staph infection. Has this happened to anyone else's dog before? Is there an ointment that's safe to use in the meantime until I can take him to the vet on Saturday?

Hi Chelsea and Dan, does Wyatt wear a harness?

Leave the scabs alone, no need to put anything else on at this time.

Hi Sam,

Wyatt stopped wearing a harness several months ago. He only wears it in the car now, and he hasn't taken a car trip in a while either.

Weird... would you mind taking an in focus pic of the scabs you describe?

Hi Chelsea & Sam...

Do you recall what was the diagnosis when you took Wyatt to the vet?  I noticed the same thing under my Corgi's armpits too.  I sprayed some antiseptic spray that I got from the vet for another irritation she had on her foot, but I'd like to know what it might be....before we take another trip to the vet.  (we're getting to be regulars there for one thing or another)

Thanks,

Carolyn

Mange?

I'd leave it alone until the vet sees it.
