My Sophie has a weird fascination with the vacuum cleaner. She trys to attack it, and sometimes she gets ahold of the front corner of it and trys to do what I call, "the shake and kill." She barks and barks at it. I don't understand it. It's not like I traumatize her with it or anything. So my question is does your corgi have issues with the vacuum cleaner?

My one female will play w/it also..its a game to her. Some of the other ones just lay there and watch and others scatter like it will swallow them up. I think its better to have them want to interact w/it then to be afraid of it.
my griffyn hates the vacuum cleaner, and his teeth marks are all over it! I have to crate both of my dogs when using it. When Soffie was little she hated the shower---she would stand between me and the running shower and try to prevent me from entering it. That behavior has gotten better, but both of them still react when they first hear the shower running. The blender is a no-no too, and just recently griffyn dosen't like me to shake a martini shaker!
Bailey is a proud owner of an “I really don’t like the vacuum” t-shirt. If it was up to him, he’d tear it into shreds.. just like our broom. Well… Bailey’s pretty good at not attacking the vacuum anymore.. What we did leash bailey, leash in one hand and vacuum in the other. If Bailey tried to attack, I’d jerk the leash. Bailey’s fine off leash now around the vacuum. He’ll only bark at it now, occasionally. Good luck!
My Corgi is the same way. She will attack both the vacuum and the lawn mower. I think she wants to herd it being a member of the herding family. One thing that has worked for me is I put a few coins in a empty soda can and when the vacuum in on and she starts her chasing, barking and attacking routine, I gently shake the can at her and say, "LEAVE IT"
It has only took a few times and now she pretty much leaves it alone. All I have to do is pick up the can and she backs right off. I can now vacuum without having to put her in a kennel.
the first time i vacuumed around ein when he was in his kennel, he was pretty pissed off. he wanted to attack it through the door. after that i let him out and he ignores it. sometimes he even gets in the way. definitely not scared anymore. its funny because my toddler was scared of the vacuum for the longest time. but not ein. lol.
I used the handheld vacuum on my corgi, LOL. She seems to enjoy it while I vacuum the loose fur after brushing. She used to bark and attacked it but stop when I chased her with it. Now she know that no barks = no chasing from the monster itself.

im not sure whether coby LIKES it or HATES it.

he goes to vacuum EVEN HE's EATING! (i know corgis never give up for their food!!! BUT! He gives up his FOOD!!)

Corgis prefer only one thing to food.  I hate to deprive them of their favorite prey, but I've gotta get the job done.  Go to your room, or go outside...

Save your dogs' teeth; make sure the vac attachments are rubber or plastic.

Penny HATES the vacuum cleaner, the swiffer, the shark, the lawn mower, the weed wacker...have I left anything out?  The worst is the vacuum though.  I have to crate her while I'm cleaning and she goes beserk trying to get out.  She quite often runs into the back room (where the vacuum is stored) to bark at it and bite it just to make sure it knows who is boss!

Do check out the famous "Let's Kill IT" painting by Evie:

It's not a weird fascination, it's actually really common.  Ginger HATES the vacuum.  She does this horrible whine/howl/bark that sounds like she's being sucked up into it.  She chases it, makes noises at it, and also bites it.  I had her with me at my mom's on Saturday and while I was vacuuming she actually bit and pulled off one of the attachments.  She didn't know what to do because she wasn't expecting it.  I just laugh because it's so insane.  She does the same thing with the Swiffer Vac, or the non-motorized Swiffer Sweeper.
Is there a corgi that doesn't hate the big bad vacuum???
