So Charlie has decided to start carrying her dog bowls around the house...I can't decide if this is a plea for more food or because she JUST doesn't have enough toys to play with (yeah right). I've tried replacing her bowls with metal dome-style bowls, but she just flips em over and drags em around upside-down now instead.

Does anybody know of any bowls I can get that she won't be able to do this with? I'm in the process of attempting to train her not to carry the bowls, but in the mean time...I'd like to look into something else just so that she doesn't make a mess of my house until she's trained.

Try ceramic or put the bowls in those metal stands.
I have ceramic bowls and Maggie just pushes them around with her nose. They are too heavy for her to pick up and carry.
Originally she had ceramic bowls, but I guess they weren't large enough for her to carry, they were puppy bowls and pretty small.
I have metal bowls that drop into a no skid base. Finn used to pick up his bowl when we would use just the metal part (because he was too short to reach it in the base) but once we started setting in the base he left it alone.

The ones we have are this style (no he doesn't have the pink with the bow) :

How heavy is the base? I'm just concerned she might flip over the base and fling the bowl away and then pick whichever one tickles her fancy and carry it around lol
You can find them in different weights. The one we have is pretty hefty so he hasn't flipped it. The shape of the base (how it kind of flares out at the bottom) is also supposed to keep them from flipping it.
Where could I get one of those? I'd like to take a look at them. I haven't seen any like that at our local Petsmart...

The shape of the bowls we have now are supposed to prevent them from picking them up, and it has the no-skid bottom. They lie! She still picks it up! lol
what does the male version look like?
i would also be interested in getting something like that for lance in the male version. : )
I use metal bowls that fit into a stand (water in the middle and two for food on the ends). Leo has not yet been able to get the bowls out of the stand (good thing as he chewed up his other bowls).
We pick the bowls up after feeding and put them in the cupboard.
Usually I pick up one bowl and it gets washed and stays on the counter until its time again for her to get fed, but the bigger problem is the water dish. I don't like taking it away from her, because I want her to have access to water all day. She tends to just drink it all and then drag the bowl around like "Hey, more water please!"
