I am still trying to get Livvy to stop herding my other corgis....I just bought her 2 new toys that help keep her occupied. I've seen them around but never knew what a difference they could make for her and they give her tons of exercise too! The outside one is the Chuckit! and it sends a tennis size ball(I bought the ultra balls to go with it) flying about 3-4 time further than I can throw it...Livvy just flies....now I just have to figure out how to have her bring it closer to me as she brings it back but drops it about 10 feet ahead of me....I know maybe a treat! The second toy is a Wobbly Wobbly this is a rubber chew toy/ fetch toy, it's a knotted rubber ball and it comes in different sizes...good for indoor play!

Jack adores Chuck-it! He runs so hard and so fast after the ball that it only takes three or four throws to tire him out. I have the best luck with side-arming it.

We took it out on a snow-covered frozen lake in the middle of winter last year. We kept near the shore. That ball would hit the ground and just skid. Jack would be running towards it and it would keep moving, and he'd be worn out by the time we got it back.

I did use a treat to train him to return with the toy to me. When he's paying attention, his recall is always done at full speed, so I did not need to worry about him getting distracted and dropping the ball. Jack does everything with grand enthusiasm, and it is a joy to watch him but like you with Livvy, I was forever hunting for things to keep him occupied, especially while he was under the age of two years.

Try Jolly Ball for her. Jack likes to carry one ball in his mouth and push Jolly Ball around with his noise, making funny "Grr grrr grrr" sounds the whole time. It's hard plastic, though, so it can be a bit noisy on tile floors. I think that is part of the appeal to the dog, though.

OK....this is too weird...I also bought one of those too(jolly ball) but did not try it yet! I have a bag of new toys that I get on sale and then I occasionally get a new one out! That's good to know!

As for the fetch it Livvy is better at finding it than we are if we throw it weird...she found it in the flower garden and one landed in the pine tree about 4 feet off the ground!
I know Loki took about 3 commands to teach him to fetch, still needs some reminding of the last one.

We have to teach him fetch, so he;d run after that ball, bring it back so he would return with the ball, and usually do what Livvy is doing, and 'closer' to get him to bring the ball within reach of us. I have always found adding a new command was easier than correcting him misunderstanding, and would actually yield results.
just bought one of those Chuckit things, makes fetching the dog much less strenuous, only takes about 10 throws to beat Loki into the ground.
My current favorite: a water polo ball. Lighter than a soccer ball, too big to get teeth around, and it doesn't have a soccer ball's padded surface (which invites teeth, eventually fatal to the ball).
