Hi all, I'm looking for some advise.

I'll start with the back story:
About three weeks ago Philip stayed with some friends' during the day, I picked him up late at night and we came home and went straight to bed. The next morning he woke up with a slight limp in his left rear leg, but it went away after he took a few steps. The behavior repeated every time after he took a longish nap. Seeing as he had an exercise-filled day with the friends (they have a young child who played with him all day long), I figured he simply pulled a muscle, so I restrained his activity, and the limp went away after a few days.

Fast forward to last night:
I took Philip to a dog park where he had a blast running as usual, upon returning home he went to sleep, and woke up with a limp on the same leg as before. As before, every time he gets up from a rest, he won't put much weight on his leg at all, then puts a little more with each step, and it completely goes away after just a few steps. Same thing happens every time he gets up after laying down for a while.

Seeing as it's Labor Day weekend, and it doesn't appear to be an emergency situation, I won't be able to take him in to the vet until Tuesday at the earliest. Any advise as to what I can do in the mean time, or what I should ask the vet about when we do go?

Philip is only 1.5 years old and has been very healthy thus far. He had his yearly check up just a month ago and was all clear on everything.

I feel so much better after seeing your comments. Gem has been doing the exact same thing! Limping when getting up and then it works its way out. Hers seems to be in the front leg. I have been so worried and ready to take her in to see her doctor but I really feel it is just hard play that causes it, so guess I'll wait after seeing so many have the same issue!
Wynn occasionally has this with a back leg and it all seemed to start one spring day when he was flying around like he hadn't been out for a month...he occasionaly gets this back also and I believe it's due to overdoing it...Wynn is in good shape so it shouldn't have anything to due with not enough exercise!
I'm so glad you posted about this. What a coincidence, Sidney did the same thing a couple weeks ago. IT was right after playing at the park, he would not jump into the car. I figured he just did not want to leave. Then the next morning he could barely walk, and I was freaking out! After he'd move for a few minutes he'd be fine, then he'd rest and that hind leg, it was like it would just give out on him. "Robot Dog", so true...malfunctioning robot! He would not get up on the sofa like he tends to, but the following day he was back to normal! No problems since. Reading what the others have written has helped me to feels so much better :)
Hi Geri! They must rub off on each other :) And the weird thing is that for Philip it was after the photo meetup, and I didn't feel like they all ran as much as usual that day.
Hope Philip is doing well. Just wanted to add my 2 cents. About a year ago our Corgi, Neveah, began randomly limping. I had thought she pulled a muscle. It wasnt constant though. After a few days we went to the vet. They did xrays and did an exam and said her kneecap was slightly displaced but they didnt think that was it. Said to have her rest. We did and one day it was gone and then back again a few days later. Took her back to the vet........ They assumed it was a sprain. It was odd to me because I assumed if it was a sprain she would limp just about all the time. My breeder suggested to have her checked for Lyme. My vet looked at me funny, but did it because I asked but said he highly doubted it. Of course she tested positive and further research indicated that one of the symptoms of Lymes Disease is lameness in the leg. So if after time Philip seems to be ok.. great.... if it continues then I would just suggest you have him tested for Lyme.
