So, while doggie sitting Alondra's babies (Superstar and Boots) my own baby Nutmeg has become a tad jealous. There are some "fights" but more along the lines of play fights. When I bring out the bowl of ice cubes....they become the pack from hell! They don't scrap when they are fed. This is a major accomplishment since Superstar is notorious for her food aggression. 1. is it ok to give them ice cubes? 2. how far do I let the "play" go until I break it up? Super and Nutty are 1 year old, and Boots is 14 weeks. He can hold his own believe me. He starts as many as he can! LOL!

Our guys LOVE ice cubes! We can't even open the freezer without them coming and sitting pretty til they get an ice cube. If the play fighting becomes vicious like really angry snarls or aggressive snapping, then I would break it up. But if they are just mouthing each other, they should be OK.

Little Boots can hold his own? He is soo tiny!!
Oh yeah! He's great! If I didnt think she'd hunt me down...I might...never mind! LOL!
We give Lance ice cubes as well. Our vet told us to be careful as ice cubes can break their teeth! :O So ever since I heard that I dont give them to him as much or I try to give him smaller pieces now.
My dog loves ice cubes too! I used to give them a lot, but turns out they are no good for teeth. My dog ended up having root canal when she was about 3, and the animal dentist told me that ice cube may have contributed to the damages as well. When we give her the ice cubes now, we give her in much smaller size, so she doesn't have to chew that much. :)
I put Ice cubes in Potus's waterbowl- by the time he gets them out they have shrunk considerably so are small enough to not do a lot of damage to his teeth. If he does get it out quick though he usually tosses it around the room until its pratically all melted away.
When I put them in the waterbowl, they swirl around. Nala just watches, and watches. After they stop, thats when she gets them. She looks funny with her head turning as she follows "the flow".
I give Mattie ice cookies all the time...they're damaging to their teeth though? That seems odd as I would think bones and raw hide would do more damage *shrug*
My males loves ice cubes and will sit behind us when we fill up a glass. So far he has had no harmful effects....
I always give treats and ice cubes separately. My Sparty gets aggressive if it is left to him to decide whose is whose. They all love ice cubes and just about anything else that can be eaten.
Luna loves ice! I do the same thing someone suggested, put them in the water bowl and they will shrink some. We may just give her a handful if it's the store bought bagged ice because those are smaller.
