We need to put up a gate to keep Token on the first floor. In the past, she has eaten through plastic and wood--very determined!

Any recommendations for specific gates? I'm thinking metal. Also, how high does it need to be? Opening is 36" wide.

She's recovering from back surgery, and really hates being in the pen and crate. She's well enough to be loose downstairs (with the furniture covered up).

Thanks all.
Stephanie

I have a 31" high Pet Lodge fence and the height works great and I like the wire...don't have any info on how that wire gates work...

I would reccomend a gate like this one, we have something similar. I am not sure if this one is pressure mounted or not. The one I have is pressure mounted, I love it!
We have something like this, without the extra-long extensions. We got it at PetSmart.

It's quite pricey. But, it has a gate. I have arthritic hips (and back and neck and shoulders and.... well, you get the point) and stepping over baby gates makes my hips sore. This has a walk-through gate, so it's well worth the extra price. We need one to keep Madison away from the cat food. Jack never bothered it as he thinks the cat is the Divine Ruler of the Universe. Maddie is afraid of the cat but has not bestowed such titles upon her and therefore thinks her food is fair game.
Uh...yea. We gave up on the gates. If Seanna didn't chew through them, she just started crawling over them.
Hi Stephanie!

We have the Four Paws brand metal gate. It's been great! Here is the link on Petco's website:

It is 30 inches high, plenty high enough to keep Sidney where I need him to be. It was fairly easy to install and has held up well for the last year and a half.
My mom and I used this gate. If you are going to be using it for a long time, be aware that the black/red handle part that you squeeze to get the gate open comes apart. You can try super gluing it back together if you want, but if you do that, you have to file the jagged areas of the glue off for the handle to be able to be pressed all the way to get the gate open, we used it for quite a while before it came apart. Other than that, It's a great gate. It was to our main entrance to the porch and was used A LOT... so... have fun making your decision!
How long did it take for yours to fall apart? Ours is still working fine after a year and a half. It sounds like yours was outside? That might make a difference.
It was at the entrance to the porch, but also had a screen door that had screen at the top part that was also closed sometimes... probably did make a difference. It lasted maybe a year?
