Swallowed a plastic eye of a stuffed animal?
So the other day I came hoem and Shiro totally ate through his stuffed penguin. It was surprising because he had this thing forever and it never occured to him to chew it up. He did chew up other things before and I never worried because he'd just throw the stuffing all over the place. I noticed that one of the small plastic eyes is missing, I couldn't really find it anywhere. I don't know if he swallowed it or not (not his habit to swallow anything that's not food), but he feels OK so far.
It was about 5 days ago and he still eats and poops as usual, just as active.
I think I'll just keep an eye on him for lethargy, not eating, etc and then take him to a vet.
Have you had something like that happen to you?

If Shiro did ingest the small piece, I wouldn't worry now cause it's already out of the system.

If I remember correctly, dogs have the shortest digestive track of all mammals, so food should be out by 8-9 hours tops :)

I think this happens alot with dogs, I have read several on here recently and they turned out fine. Something as small as an eye should be easier than many things!

She'll probably be fine. I had a German Shephard/Husky mix that ate a WHOLE nylon leash one time, and pooped out the whole thing intact a couple of days later. Crazy.

Good thing it didn't get tangled inside her tummy and just came out.
Did you use the leash after that?

No...I asked the vet if he wanted it, but he just laughed. We threw it away!

Summer is our second corgi and our first one was Corky. Both dogs have been prone to tearing apart and therefore ingesting parts of their toys. We have always marveled at the multi-colored stools that we find in the backyard when this happens. I would just try to find chew toys that do not have sharp plastic pieces to them. Our dogs have eaten both cloth and plastic toys and we have not had any serious problems. Corky lived to be 11 years old. Summer will be 8 years old this year and she still acts like a puppy although she is finally starting to slow down a little.
We live in a rural neighborhood without fences between a lot of the yards which is nice except when you live with a curious dog. Our dogs love (loved) to wander and have (had) great noses for finding the neighbors grease under the barbeque or food straps that the neighbors throw out. Needless to say, a leash is a good thing for us.
