A friend of a friend of mine lost his dog because he was deployed and his family decided to just hand it off to a shelter... and surprise it was put down :(  Imagine how happy he was when he came back from service....

So! Just a little FYI if anyone has friends or family being deployed with house pets who need some help until they come home!

Oh how sad...and mean! I would love to foster a dog for someone but I'm afraid I'm a little too busy! Thanks for the info and glad there's something like this out there!
We are a retired military and live an hour away from Fort Bragg. We see notices in the paper and everywhere, soldiers looking for safe homes for their pets. Every living thing is effected by a war.
thank u so very much for the link!!!!:) me and my husband were so worried about us going over seas and not letting us take them or take them and never give them back (we have heard stories, not 100%if they are true but we were worried) now we know who to turn to in this situation, thanks again:D!
Very sad story... Thanks for the link. I registered to be a foster. I am also going to tell my boss, she is a huge animal lover & has 2 dogs & 2 cats of her own who husband is in the Army and over seas right now I know she would love to foster as well & has alot of conections with the military so going to pass the link on to her......
So happy this has helped! :) I'm a military BRAT so I understand the stresses military life can be.
When we lived in MS and Patti was deployed, I worked at the local humane society. I remember a day when a guy walked in with two beautiful cats. His "girlfriend" had been deployed. He didn't want to "mess with" the cats and just dropped them off. I often thought of that lady airman who, when she came home from dealing with war and death, was going to be slapped with the news that her cats had been unceremoniously given away. You know she got off the bus or plane thinking she would walk in her door to the greeting of meows and instead got dead silence. Sad. So sad.
Oh how sad! I hope this person sends her boyfriend to some unhumane society! I'm sorry but that is terrible!
OMG, I can't imagine..how sad...
yes, thank you for the info and so glad there are guardian angels out there..
This is really bothering me...I am hoping that maybe I can do foster for a 6 month stint after my pups and rescue are gone!!!!
