I am getting ready to make some homemade peanut butter treats. The store bought brand of treats seem to be filled with junk really dont want my furkids to eat. Thought maybe we could share recipes. I am looking for more natural./organic recipes for treats...... The one I am getting ready to make......

 

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup peanut butter (all-natural or organic)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine oil, peanut butter and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming a dough. Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut into 3 to 4 inch pieces. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

Sound similar to mine but I use whole wheat flour ,ground flax seed and sometimes oatmeal. I put mine on a large cookie sheet and cut after they have cooled about 5 mn with a pizza cutter...easy!
Jane- may try that method next time, the dogs LOVE them..... I am soooooo excited cant wait to make different flavors
My recipe calls for milk but I many times use beef broth.Just kicks up the flavor a notch!
Does anyone have a recipes for chicken jerky? I would like to start making my own treats!

Ingredients:
Chicken Breast Fillets
Instructions:

Preheat oven to 200° F
Lightly grease a baking sheet.
Rinse off chicken breast and remove any fat.
Slice the chicken with the grain. This will help make the jerky even chewier for your dog. The slices should be very thin, about 1/8" to 1/4" thickness.
Place the strips on the baking sheet.
Bake for approximately 2 hours (see note below).
Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack until completely cool.
Cut strips into bite sized pieces.

Storing: These homemade dog treats may not last long enough to be stored because they are so good. But, just in case they do, store them in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. Freeze any remainder for up to 8 months. Be sure to read our tips on storing homemade dog treats for more information.

Tips & Techniques:
Checking - The baking times will vary due to difference in ovens, temperatures and meat size. Your jerky treats should be firm and dry, not at all soft or spongy. It is safer to go a little extra dry and firm than for the meat to be underdone.
Cutting - Once the treats are cool, it's easier to cut them with kitchen scissors or a pizza cutter, than a regular knife.
There is so much flexibility when making your own chicken jerky dog treats. One of the best options is that you do not need to be restricted to only using chicken. So let's preheat the oven and go for low and slow for these tasty jerky treats.

Here's the recipe I used when I made some treats over the weekend and Orion LOVES them :) That website also has lots of other dog treat and cake recipes if you want to try out new things, I'll probably make something new soon. For Orion's first birthday I'll probably make one of those cakes too
Great recipes everyone. Ella's 2nd birthday is Monday, so I think I'll make her some goodies. She will be a happy, happy doggy. I usually just buy her "newman's own" doggy oatmeal/chicken treats, they literally have like 5 ingredients. But nothing is better than homemade.
