If there is a room without windows that would be good also to have a radio or tv on to filter some of the outside noise would be good! Good luck!
Edward doesn't care about Fireworks but Gem is really frightened of them. I would keep her home and give her a extra treat for the Fourth of July instead!!!
Rosie and Rocky are very scared of thunderstorms and fireworks. Rosie hides in a closet and Rocky sits on a lap and pants like crazy. If I were you, I would stay home. Taking her and leaving her in a house other than her own won't do much to help if she is frightened. Think about it-not home, people she trusts not near her, alone, scared, not good!!! Go home early or leave her home, in her crate with some background noise going and maybe a light sheet over her crate to make it seem safer to her. Bright, booming lights aren't worth a frightened dog.
My Toby is terrified of fireworks as well, so we will be home with with our little guy.. We find keeping the air on with house shut up helps drown out the sound some, and he likes to go into his tent bed cause makes him feel more safe ..
I would think it depends on the dog. We have taken Ella the last 2 years, and she could care less. However we never park right by the area the fireworks are being shot off, we usually park maybe a mile away. She can still hear them, but isn't right up by them. We also watch them from our car, in a big parking lot with lots of other cars. Ella tends to want a few pieces of popcorn and then settles in for a nap.
This is the first year that I have broken down and started drugging Lilli during thunderstorms and for the fireworks. She is terrified beyond just the kind of barking she does at the vacuum. This is serious freaking-out. The fireworks don't even have to near. Just within hearing distance. Or on TV.

What I HATE is the kids (I assume) who set off fireworks or firecrackers in the neighborhood. It's not just on the 4th, but randomly thru the summer. Lilli's drugs take an hour to take effect, so they're useless for this. At least thunderstorms show up on radar maps.
