Like all Corgis, mine sheds ferociously.  I question that I may be brusing too much, 2 to 3 times per day.  Would over brushing cause more than normal shedding?  I just got this wonderful little girl on a rescue deal and am learning about her.  Best dog I have ever had and I have had quite a few.

I don't know how this discussion ended up in "Regional Events Only", but you're probably not going to get many replies unless it's moved into the forums.  I think you'll have to ask Sam or open a new discussion in forums- general breed info.
Hi Don, if she is blowing coat,  then 2 to 3 times per day is fine. Other factors that can contribute to shedding includes stress, diet, humidity and climate change.
Thanks for the info, Sam.  What bothers me is it's the middle of winter here in central Oregon with snow on the ground and the hair thing is just unbelievable.  Checked the internet for what seems to be the best food and will start feeding her that tomorrow.  Also understand that fish oil (omega 3) helps quite a bit.
Twinkie is having here first major, what did Sam call it, coat blow at two years old.  Wholly cow!  It is winter here in Georgia (I know its not REAL winter but its what we have) and she is a mess.  It has been going on for at least a month.  I would like to hear from Don what his girl's "normal" is when she has it.  I am really hoping that we cycle out of this.  As you might tell, Twinkie is a fluff but I am thoughtfully considering bringing my mom's flat-coated boy here for awhile but he sheds SO much.  My mom mentioned that there is a rumor that if you give them a bath in either hot-ish or cold water (she couldn't remember which) it release the hair.  Maybe someone with lots of experience will let us know Don.  Great question!

Cindi,

I'm getting all kinds of suggestions.  It looks like we in for a long haul with these corgis but worth it.  One person said bath, followed by cream rinse, then outside with the meanest and baddest hair dryer available and blow dry against the coat.  For the most part, most feel a bath does the trick for awhile.  I just don't understand why all the hair when it's freezing out.  She just jumped off my lap and while up there, I was pulling gobs of hair out from her neck area an depositing it in the trash can.

My fluff, Jon, has been blowing coat here in VA, too.  I don't know how he has any undercoat left, but just yesterday, I brushed a large puppy out of him.  Thought it might have been our Indian summer in October, but that was two months ago and now it's COLD outside.  (btw - Dewi is barely shedding.)  What a hairy mess my house is.

Elizabeth,

Your email caused me to laugh out loud...and my Betty, too.  Just returned from the post office and on the trip home, had the car window open and was pulling hair from around her neck and dumping it out the window.  Now, in CA where I used to live the only thing you can dump onto the highways is water and feathers from live birds, so would I be in violation of the vehicle code there from dumping Corgi fur on the highway?  Hmmm...good question.

Well, I suppose if it blew into someone's car window and they accidentally inhaled it or something....  :)

I mentioned to my daughter before disposing of Jon's "puppy" in the trash that someone might be able to spin thread with it and knit a purse.  Eww!

That is so funny! After reading this thread yesterday, I got out the brush and Furmanator!  We had a fur puppy too!  I had completely vacuumed the sofa prior so it was easy to see that is didn't make too much of a difference.  My son suggested we just don't let her on the sofa.  What?  That probably won't happen.  Anyone know where we can all get corgi-colored couches?
Oh, they NEVER blow their coats at the same time!!
How rude!

Rude re. what?
