So I've been reading a little bit about clicker training. It seems like it's really effective. I was wondering if anyone has tried and had success or if it's even necessary?

Thanks :]

the closest petsmart to where I live is unfortunately between trainers so I'm gonna have to try this without classes :[ I definitely looked into it though. It's too much trouble to go all the way across town to the other one. and I'm sure private training is way too expensive.
Depending where you live...our AKC club has classes but I still have to travel an hour each way...but those are the closest for us.
i don't even know if there is AKC club here lol my petsmart is 5 minutes away vs. the other one 20 min away.
I'd check with your local vets and doggie daycares, they might offer classes as well.
I used youtube as my classes for clicker training 2 really good ones are kikopup and Pamelamarxsen they have really good videos, you can look at others also and find your favorite
oh cool! I'll definitely check that out. thanks :D

Don't have a clue where this is but you could check and I also noticed some training classes when I looked this up:) They may have puppy classes which are good till your little one gets old enough:)

awesome! thanks so much!
well i looked at the classes and prices and figured out where it's located. The prices are cheaper than Petsmart for the most part and if i finish all the classes (puppy, beginner, novice, advanced, and rally) i could compete in competitions and stuff. I had no idea we had stuff like that around here. I'll probably only do the puppy class though :] thanks again!
You could probably ask if you could stop by and watch before you decide...that's what I did and I think our AKC classes are cheaper or the same...I just thought because some of the trainers are breeders, have show dogs,do agility and train...I would be really getting a better deal! Happy for you that it might work...even just to get started...I have found that I need the training and the classes as much as my dogs:)
If she turns out to be a stubborn little pup that's when I'll turn to classes most likely. lol I've gone through potty training and raising of three different dogs so maybe I can do it myself :D guess we'll see!
Sabre is my first dog but I had read a lot about clicker training and decided to try it. We brought Sabre home at 8 weeks and he was house trained at 10 weeks with the help of the clicker. I used it to teach him commands for inside/outside as well as some tricks. He is 9 months old now, and he knows 9 tricks and hasn't used the bathroom in the house since June. The clicker is awesome if you can be consistant with it and give a reward/recognition immediately after you click. It worked very well for us!
