Biking

Does anyone bike with their corgi? I tried when I first got him and it didn't work very well. I tried again over winter break, and it was much better as long as I walked him a little beforehand! I was wondering if there are easier ways to do it than I how do it. I have him on a 4 ft slip lead-- I tried with his collar and the 6 ft clip lead but it didn't work very well. I guess maybe I should get a harness... but what specific kind? Any leash recommendations? Any ideas on how to rig something to keep him attached to my bike without him getting tangled in the wheels?

Oh, I need to add that I biked with him off-leash behind a high school, but in the neighborhoods I had to use the leash. We did much less of the leashed biking because I didn't like the setup we had. There's no place for me to bike with him off-leash at college, though. :[

Spary's little legs keep up pretty good around the neighborhood but when I hit the main road and twist the throttle on the Suzuki, I loose him.

they make an attatchment for a leash so you can bike with your dog and they don't get tangled in the tires. My friend has one and takes our crazy dogs in the kennel at my school on runs....we are talking underexercised 75 pound pitbulls. She is able to do it without much problem bc the device takes in any tugging or sudden stops the dog does. Just look up something like attatchment for biking with dog and you will find something

This is what our trainer recommended if we wanted to bring our dogs along for bike rides. It's kind of expensive but she said it works great.

Biking with a dog on a leash? That's like smoking while surfing, or playing poker while skydiving. Certain activities just don't mix well. Bicycles are dangerous enough to begin with.

And where are you gonna find a bike small enough for a corgi?

Yeah, we only used the leash for a total of 15 minutes on all of our biking excursions, probably. Mostly it was offleash with him far behind us.

But, I'm small. He rides my bike pretty well. ;D

I've biked with Caius a total of two times, and both with a leash. I'm comfortable enough to ride with one hand, and the bike path I go down it all flat surface, so there's no surprises with bumps or cracks... And it's big enough for people to bike/walk on the other side without being a nuisance.

I just wrapped the leash around my hand/wrist to where it's tight enough and I held the leash upwards. I would slow down if he was cautiously getting closer to my bike, and go a bit faster when he maneuvered away from my bike, but still keeping pace. I was a bit nervous when I first tried it, but since we work well together, it was a fun activity. I would do off-leash, but he's still pretty young, and I don't trust his motives if he were to get distracted by something or someone.
