We were in PetSmart today and saw a new product, so new in fact that I can't find it online--- not even on Chuckit's website. Soooo, not sure if you can find it anywhere else, or just in PetSmart.
We're all familiar with the Chuckit ball launcher. My dogs looovveee it, but of course you need a wide-open space to throw it in.
Well, this is a Chuckit indoor launcher. Instead of a ball, you launch a very soft (very soft; think plush toy) doughnut-shaped toy.
My dogs think this is fantastic. Not just everyday fantastic, but Ohmygodthrowitagainthrowitagain-ifyoudon'tthrowitagain-Iwillturnmyselfinsideoutwithexcitement fantastic.
This is NOT a toy for those who like peace and quiet in the house. This is not a toy for people with multiple dogs who are prone to fighting. There was barking. There was whining. There were dogs knocking each other over and landing on top of each other.
And at the end, there were panting dogs lying on their side in the living room, tired and happy.
Here's the toy. Sorry if the picture looks like it was taken in my laundry room with my cellphone because, um, it was.

Must. Find. Toy.
I am sure Ashton would love this toy. Now I just gotta get out of town to get it!!
Definately a NEED in this household but I will have to lock other out or in the garage...wish I would have had it for Livvy this winter!
Thanks Beth!
Well, it looks like Jazmin's dad is going shopping again. lol
Its not like she isn't already horribly spoiled beyond any reasonable terms, or that she dosen't have enough toys ( toy box has overflowed to her crate now, which is almost full) or even the fact that we just came back from the Pet Expo where she was spoiled beyond any resonable limits.
Update on the indoor chuckit:
Jack was so excited the first time we played with this that he threw up about 2 hours later. My husband now calls it the "Up-chuckit." :)
Because of that I left it put away for a few days.
Brought it out again tonight for the first time since. They both started spinning and twirling as soon as they saw it. I threw it once and it took Jack a few minutes to give up the doughnut-shaped thingy. He was so happy he was running laps of the house with it, so I ignored him completely til he dropped it.
We are now working really hard on "Jack's turn" and "Maddie's turn." There is no problem with Maddie letting Jack get HIS turn, because if he runs for something she will just give up the chase. Not a bad move on her part, since he'll bowl right into her and he outweighs her by about 7 pounds. However, she keeps trying to grab the toy while I'm picking it up, so we are working on that.
I've got Jack to wait on her turn with a hand signal and the "wait" command we use in agility. However he's so excited that he whines and barks the whole time and as soon as I release him, he goes running in the direction I threw it, even though he clearly sees Maddie running back with it in her mouth. I guess he's just hoping maybe it cloned itself in mid-air and he will find the second one. The Dolly of the chuck-it world, if you will.
So the summary is the dogs still love it love it love it, and it's still a rough and noisy inside game. Not for those who like peace and quiet. :)
Now we'll see if Jack vomits again.....
I know mine would shred it in no time so I keep the toy out of their reach except when we are actively playing with it! We had another game this morning; after just a few minutes Maddie't tongue was hanging out of the side of her mouth.
We got a spare doughnut today at PetSmart and it was the last one left.
That would be perfect for us, they like to bring the ball back together and I can see them both grabbing a side. Guess I know where I'm headed tomorrow!
