My puppy is 10 weeks old and she is constantly biting her hind legs around her knees and chewing on her legs. She also bites her feet too. She on Purina puppy chow but I just bought her Wellness to switch her to. Ive read about using vitamin e or salmon oil on her food. But I wasnt sure if you can give that to a puppy or how much to give her. Shes whining ALOT from all the itching so I need to know what to do. Thanks.

Could she have fleas? Is she chewing on just her back legs or front too?It just makes me wonder if she is whining if it's not more than dry skin. It might be just the difference in dogs but mine usually scratch their dry skin not try to bite but have when they've had fleas. I don't know ...this is just a thought.I'm glad your switching her food but I would check her areas that she's biting closely for any other signs. Can't help on the oil as mine don't need it but I'm sure there's several people on here that can help! Good Luck!
If you go to Amazon they sell salmon oil for dogs that comes in a liguid pump form they have two brands...1st is GRIZZLY SALMON OIL and 2nd is BEAR TREATS I've bought both brands and don't see much of a difference so when I need to reorder just get the one on sale...they have directions as to how many pumps and how often Jordan my 30lb gets 2 pumps twice a day on his morning and evening meal Teagen my 19lb gets 1 pump per meal. You can also try washing her in an anti-itch shampoo or buy a coat conditioner spray also.
Please don't feed her Purina Puppy Chow or anything with grains in it. Buy a top of the line food, like Orijens, or the Wellness is good. Rule of thumb is anything purchased in a department or grocery store is crap. If there are any by-products on the label don't buy it. corn, wheat, soy and so on. I don't know where you live but try sourcing out a specialty pet food store (not PetSmart) that has a variety of "holistic" high end products and get her on one of those. It will be worth your while in so many ways down the road.
A lot of us feed our furkids Blue Buffalo. They have a lamb, brown rice and oatmeal one for puppies which Olive loves. We just had this problem not to long ago and we gave her an oatmeal bath and she's stopped biting and whining. However, it could be fleas or a skin fungus as well, so be vigilant. It could be the weather too, esp if it's been really dry as of late. How often do you bathe her?
