Hello! I want to get some fun treats Kirby will like but that will also be good for her, or at least not bad for her. Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh and I would love to make her treats but I'm limited on time. I'd rather be playing with her in my down time than cooking :) but if anyone has some quick recipes, please let me know! :)

Jeni, I make these treats for my dogs & they LOVE them, ya it takes a little time but well worth knowing I know whats exactley in them & the reward knowing i made them & they love them is priceless. I refrigerate mine once they are done cooling.

Peanut Butter Goodness Dog Treats

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup peanut butter (all-natural or organic)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil

Preheat the oven to 350 F. Combine oil, peanut butter and water. Add flour, one cup at a time, forming a dough. Knead dough into firm ball and roll to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut into 3 to 4 inch pieces. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 F for 20 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

Prep time is about 20 minutes on these dog treats.

The one that Christen makes is close to the one I make! I just roll mine out over the whole cookie sheet and cut with a pizza cutter about 5 minutes after it comes out of the oven. My dogs love them and they freeze well!
Orion loves costco's chicken jerky. Its mainly just chicken so I feel like it's not bad for them and he goes totally bonkers for it
I think that the daily blog posted something cautionary about chicken treats espec. if it's coming out of china right now. I've been looking for chicken jerky treats that aren't from china lately, and am appalled that it seems it all comes from china!!!! If any of you guys have a brand that's not coming out of china could you let me know?
thanks christy
Christy have you ever thought about making your own Chicken jerky? Here is a recipe......

Ingredients
1 cooked boneless chicken breast
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Directions
1.Preheat oven to 200°F.
2.Slice the chicken into thin strips. You should end up with about 7 or 8 slices.
3.Place chicken slices on a baking sheet and bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours to remove moisture (cooking time will depend on thickness of chicken and whether chicken is refrigerated or warm from oven. I baked raw chicken until no longer pink then allowed it to cool enough to be handled before slicing into strips).
4.Allow to cool.
The brand that Costco sells now is USA made. Thank goodness! You can definitely tell it is different from the look and size of the strips.
The Costco ones are not out of China, they used to be, but aren't anymore. I don't think they sell the same brand anywhere else but costco and its only like 12 bucks for a three pound bag
does she like soft or crunchy? teddy loves the wellness bars i get him along with the wellness jerky treats or the "great rewards" there maid naturally and LOVES THEM, u can even see the fruit, oatmeal, and chicken in them:)
Soffie & Griffyn love the Wellness bars too. But after seeing some of these recipes I think they're in for some new treats!!
Zuke's Mini Naturals are great for training at 2 calories each. We get the salmon ones.

Wellness makes a soft puppy treat that we break into even smaller pieces as well. The dogs really like that since it has a strong smell.

Tiny pieces of string cheese are good too, but heavy on salt so use it as a special treat. If you get one string cheese, it's usually about 70 calories, so if you can cut it into about 30 pieces the calorie count is low.
I second the Chicken Jerky from Costco - It's literally just dried meat. I'll usually rip it in half and ram two or three pieces into Casey's Kong. If I do it just right, it takes her a while to get the last few pieces out. We recently ran out of the Chicken Jerky bag, so I bought a bag of the Duck Jerky to try something new. I prefer the Chicken to the Duck. The duck pieces are much smaller and don't break off as well as the Chicken, making the "ramming into a Kong" part difficult for me. But if you don't care about that, I'm sure they're both equally delicious for the dog, and a much better treat for them than something high in carbs/grains (like MilkBones).

If you're looking for small, soft treats, I would recommend picking up a package of liver (beef, chicken, whatever's available and cheap). Boil it until it's cooked, then take it out and let it cool off. Cut it into tiny little cubes (the size of a piece of kibble). Toss the cubes with some garlic, then spread out on a baking sheet and bake in the oven until they've lost most of their moisture. I then freeze small, individual packages, and take one out to mix in with some other stuff for training or to freeze in her Kong with something else. Again, it's just meat (and garlic if you add it) so there's no grain going into it.

You can also freeze a Kong with tons of healthy and delicious treat options inside, such as pumpkin, mashed sweet potato, or banana. I end up dumping in whatever I have in the fridge at the time, and Casey doesn't seem to mind.
I hand-mash one ripe banana, then stir in a container of plain yogurt and a couple tablespoons of peanut butter. Put in ice cube trays for nice pupsicles! I think someone here posted a similar recipe right around when I started making them.
