Corgi has back injury.. has seen vet, has med but will not lay down!

I am so concerned. Ein is my 4yr old boy and yesterday while we were at a friends house he injured his back somehow, which I know can be common in corgi's. We took him to the Vet ER and they did x-rays and gave him meds. They believe he is having pain in his spine and he is now home on 3 medications, strictly limited to rest, no running/playing or anything. He is a bit drowsy from the meds but he will simply will NOT lay down. He puts his back legs to the side and puts his weight on his front feet.. he's literally dozing off about to fall over but wakes up to hold himself. I feel SO helpless. I propped up some blankets and pillows but he does not want to be moved. I just want him to lay down and sleep. :o( We wrapped him in a blanket but once we place him down he sits for a second, whimpers and moves to a different spot. Anyone encounter this and find a resolution to help them lay comfortably??

I've had Wynn pinch a nerve and I always just let him arrange himself...he knows what feels best...I believe. He may just feel the best when in the position he puts himself in????

Can you at least have him lay on his side? Maybe give him a baby aspirin for pain? What kind of meds did you get because they can perscription some puppy pain meds. You can call your Vet and always ask for the best solution and they do not charge you.

Hes 4 yrs n hes taking tramadol n 2 others for pain n muscle.. He jumped up on the couch just now ( which hes not supposed to) but hes now laying thank God. I have to give him his meds soon tho.. :o(

If you have a crate or an X-pen, confine him! If you don't have a crate or an X-pen, find some other means of confinement or invest in the X-pen. I don't think you can force him to lay down. He will find a comfortable position and stick with it. But, if he lays on the couch, pick him up gently (keeping his back as straight and still as possible) and put him on the couch--same for when it's time to get off. It's very hard keeping a broken dog still; Waffle has injured his neck a few times and needed confinement. It's tough but it's what they've got to do!

Ty so much.. and to everyone who commented. Luckily a friend of ours isnt using their crate and it going to let us borrow it. That way I can fluff it with blankets so he just kinda sinks into a position. Youve helped confirm even more the decision.. I thought of just leaving him in the kitchen but I know hed be walking around and sitting funny. Thank you for your time and response, you've helped ease me. P.s. He seems a bit more comfortable now after his re-dose of meds.
