Does your corgi carry the leash in their mouth?
Ever since Shiro was a small puppy he carried the leash in his mouth on walks. I don't mind that because a) it keeps his mouth occupied and he can't grab something off the floor and b) acts like reigns on a horse, when I pull it slightly his head turns and the direction. hehe
He does it as soon as we go out the door, like he can't wait to go for a walk. I think it's funny and cute.

So funny! Madoc (hi bro!) does it too. AND-- this was really wild-- one day while romping in a field with several other dogs, he grabbed one of the leashes and appeared to be walking that dog! His owner had let go of the leash but not unclipped it so it was dragging behind him. Madoc grabbed the end and started prancing around.
Madoc goes in for his neuter and chipping next Friday the 11th! Have you noticed any particular changes in Shiro since his surgery? I know Shiro's was more complicated. Do you ever hear anything about the rest of their litter? I always wonder about the other little tri-guy-- we chose between Madoc and him.

I do wonder about another red boy that we did not choose. Carrie said he lives in VA Beach now and his name is Yoshi. It's surprising because it was one of the names we considered for Shiro. I have no idea where other puppies are. I hope one of them made it to conformation.
Shiro has not changed at all after neutering except marking. Used to go on every tree and bush, about 5 times in 10 minute walk, but now maybe once, twice. He'd still go if he smells or sees other dog go though, other than that no change at all.

How much does he weigh now, by the way? Shiro's 25lb and he looks kinda small to me compare to other corgis we see.

Madoc is the same size-- 25 lbs. The trainer we work with said he was a "small corgi." I wasn't sure if it was because he wasn't full grown or if because we keep him pretty fit & trim. I certainly see corgis with more heft to them. And I gather their chests drop and then they look sort of broader. I have thought that between 25 and 30 was supposed to be ideal for corgi boys, so I'd probably get a bit strict with the food if he was closing in on 30. I have wondered about him getting less exercise in the dead of winter and if that might cause weight gain. The guys are 10 months tomorrow! I can't imagine life without him now. Do you stay in touch with Carrie at Dalarno? I was thinking about sending her a new picture and update.

Jack sometimes does. I always "leave it" with him because he does it out of obstinance. He will grab the leash when he is not happy that we have turned towards home on our walk, for example.
He doth protest to much. :-)

Finn does it for the exact same reason. At first it was ok because he would walk by me without pulling if he had a stick, pine cone or the leash in his mouth. Now he's become a little monster about it. When we start to head home he will pick up the leash and if my husband tells him to drop it he will. If I tell him to drop it he starts to throw a fit. He'll lay down and pull in the opposite direction with the leash in his mouth growling. The more I try to correct him the more he thinks it's a game. It's really very embarrassing having to wrestle with this vicious acting Corgi in the middle of our apartment complex. What started off as cute and a good distraction for him has turned into a daily battle of wills. He won't win though. I'll try other things and if I have to I'll get a head harness. I don't know why he doesn't take me seriously as he does my husband. I correct him just as much, am just as serious and don't back down. Is it just because I'm a girl? I wanted a female and my husband talked me into a male by saying "a male will like you the best, if we get a girl she'll favor me" and I just couldn't have that. Finn does favor me, but he also challenges me. He keeps me on my toes I guess. :)

I'm the same way. Caleb does try to get away with it and he generally only grabs it when he's upset about something (we're going home instead of on more walkie, I won't let him run over at eat ). He'll even argue with you about it but I use the PSHT and Leave It commands.
Oooh the evil eye I get. :)

Kit grabs at the leash on our walks and seems to almost be leading me. It is pretty damn cute but I try and catch him and say "AH" whenever he does do it... but you did bring up a good point, I rather have the leash in his mouth versus him hoovering up any random objects on the ground (he loves picking up rocks, fallen fruit, little sticks (too little in my opinion) and other random things I'm not fast enough to see what it is before it disappears from him dropping or swallowing).
Kit's going in to get his undescended puppy bits taken care of, I'm curious to see after all the hormones get out of his system how he changes.

Finn had a cryptorchid neuter too and he didn't change one bit. His attitude is still the same and he still doesn't empty his bladder on the first try when I take him out. He saves some so he can mark so I make sure he pees at least twice before bringing him back in. I thought it would mellow him out but it really didn't.

Shiro has one of his boys undescended and after the surgery he hasn't changed a bit! Well, he marks a little less tan before, but if he sees a dog do it or smells something he'll do it anyways.
Make sure he doesn't run or jump the first week, otherwise his incision will get swallen, like Shiro's did.
