Can someone point me in the direction of a quality brand of shears. Not sure whats good and whats not. I looked at Chris Christensen but I'm not looking to spend $140 on some scissors. Is there a difference in barber shears and Grooming shears? Dog products dont have the same review database as say cars and consumer electronics.

I don't have a clue...but...have you tried Amazon? I got my furminator for about 60% off or more...just a thought!
All you need is furminator!
I looked at amazon and still don't know what is good. We have a Fuminator and love it.
We don't even have a furminator, just a regular blunt-toothed metal dog comb and a beat-up little barber's scissors (for trimming pad fur).
Is this just for your corgi? If so, there's really no need for special shears. I trim the fur around the paw pads once in a while but that's it. I just use a kid's scissors.
not just for the corgi. Mostly for the Aussie at shows but I'm sure Daisy will love her pedicure.
I ask this question at pets mart once, when wanting to shave my cat.. because im a hairdresser i figured whats the difference? They told me id ruin my clipper using on animals so i didnt .
Oh, by shears I mean scissors, not for shaving or anything. maybe I used the wrong word earlier.
$100.00 jobbers that is ridiculous or if you want a really good pair go to a beauty supply store like sallys, we have in tx. and buy a $30.00 pair . for what your going to use them for, thats all you need
This blog might help you out, she has other articles regarding grooming too but I didn't dig through all of them:

I'd highly recommend micro-serrated shears - if you get 'too' high-quality, you'd face needing to have them professionally sharpened, but if you go lower-end, you could probably use them for years and then replace instead of sharpening.

I found this pair on sale for $29.95, they're short - http://www.imagesupply.net/Mehaz-Hair-Cutting-Shears-5-50.aspx

If you're intending to do a full-body snipping of stray hairs, you might prefer a longer blade. If you're trimming whiskers, feet, ears ...the short ones are easier.
