I realize some people here think the Iam's Company is awful, and I respect that opinion but I don't want this to turn into a discussion about food quality, since there are many discussions about that here.

This is just a heads-up that the shortages are worsening on certain Iam's and Eukanuba formulas, presumably as large pet stores use up their own stocks of certain products.

The Iam's Company (Parent P&G) is having some manufacturing constraints. I haven't been able to get complete info, but apparently there are some major upgrades going on at some of their facilities, and it seems they are not making many products to focus on the top sellers til the process is complete.

We haven't had problems finding the lamb and rice dog formula we use, but we can't find the Healthy Naturals w/ Salmon variety we feed the cat.

Anyone who uses Iam's or Eukanuba might want to stock up, and not wait until the bag is empty before going to the store, in case you need to switch brands or formulas.

I plan on calling Iam's tomorrow to get more info, but the people at PetSmart said they may be out of stock until at least January. Looks like we may switch kitty to Blue Buffalo; their Finicky Feast formula most closely matches the nutrient profile in what we are feeding now.

Thanks for the info Beth! I know someone who feeds her cat Iams:)
That is too bad, I hate switching foods and have found cats are often very resistant to it. It is not what I feed but I feel your pain.
Yes, cats can be very funny about food. Ours was raised with Corgis and thinks she is one, so I'm hoping she doesn't give us a hard time. She does seem to have a Corgi appetite. I've never seen a cat like her; she eats a quarter-cup of kibble in about 10 minutes. :-)

It helps that she gets a mix of dry and canned, and with the canned she gets different stuff all the time. We've used Blue Buffalo, Wellness (not her favorite), Innova, Nutro, and even a few kinds of Fancy Feast that aren't loaded with Mystery Meat. So since she isn't set in her ways, hopefully she'll accept the new food.

We've switched twice before (from the Kitten Chow she was on to Iam's Kitten, and then to Iam's adult). For cats, I start with mixing about a half-dozen pieces in with the regular food and then do that for a week, then up the ratio by about a teaspoon a day.

I only have 33 days left of her existing food (I measured it out), so if I need to switch I'll have to start next week. :-(
I have noticed this problem myself. I have fed my cats IAMs for 10 years, and am very worried about having to switch since I can't find any anywhere. They are getting by for now on the small bags I have been able to find, but I don't know how much longer that's going to last. : (
