Hello everyone,
I recently lost my toy poodle, Curly in July. She was 14years old, but very spunky right up until the end. Her owner (a Pearl Harbor survivor!) died 5 years ago, and I took her in. Best dog I ever had, and I miss her dearly.
Im now ready for another dog and have always wanted a pembroke corgi. I had one growing up, so I know what Im in for. Can anyone recommend a reputable person to get one from? I would like a purebred, not a mix; female, tri colored or sable. I will NOT be breeding the dog, and "pet quality" is fine for me. I live in the Antelope Valley, which is in Southern California. I would like a puppy but am open to adopting a corgi, up to 4 years old. We have a lab, Bodie, and he misses his little friend.
Any advice on where to get a good corgi ( and equally who to avoid) would be appreciated.
Thanks! Susan.

I would start your search here: http://pwcca.org/memberlist.cfm

Hi, Susan..
If you would like, I have about 160 websites for corgi breeders-they're not all in your state but there is a few, and most that are far ship.
I know that Lazy J Ranch is going to have Christmas puppies! (The first link is to the main site, the second is directly to the page where it shows the parents of the up and coming puppies)
I've talked to this lady on the phone and it was an extremely pleasant experience. She was super nice. Here's her number: (662) 242-8787
Anyhow, there may also be an up and coming litter for a lady that lives here in Oregon.. She's in Rainier and I don't have her site because there isn't one.. But here's her information if you want to get a hold of her

I know that I am wanting to get a puppy from her as far as I can tell and there's someone else on here-at LEAST one other person, anyhow that I know of,-who has gotten a puppy from her, but she hasn't yet told me if she was a good breeder or not.
Good luck!
Hi Susan, Welcome to MyCorgi. First, you have my condolences on the loss of Curly. It was good of you to take her in and it sounds like you were well rewarded with love.
I agree with Susan that the http://pwcca.org/memberlist.cfm site is the best place to start. The list of members in California includes some of the very best Corgi breeders in America. Some of them I've met or know personally and they are very devoted to the breed and take breeding very seriously, striving to produce on the best, healthiest Corgis. And if they don't have pups, they will be able to steer you in a good direction with another breeder. You might pay a little more for one of their pups but a top breeder is likely to become a friend and a ready, reliable source of expert advice as your Corgi grows and develops and that connection can be invaluable.
i have a byb corgi , shes my first and i have one from WWC wow ~~~ what a difference!! im just saying wait and pay for a good temperament...youll be so glad you did...

Lots of corgis to be adopted.
Thank you all for the great information. I have lots of notes and phone numbers now. We are currently moving from one house to another, so when all that commotion has died down and I can give my full attention to a new puppy (or older) I will start shopping around. Probably near the 1st of the year. Thank you all so much, I will be hovering here, watching your posts.
That Lazy J is breeding a fluffy? According to the AKC you are not suppose to breed fluffies. I certainly have no problem with fluffies....Max is a gorgeous fluffy and personally I prefer them but for a breeder to have one in their breeding program....I don't get it.
And way too many litters. Where I got Max and Katie...the females are only bred twice in 4 years.
