I would say so:) Mine maybe get a bath once a year or if they roll in something they shouldn't have. They can come in with mud on and it dries and falls off. Even their breath smells good especially Bella's! It's so wonderful!

They do have dirt-shedding coats. But before the hormones kick in, dogs (like people) don't get much odor when they get hot or damp--- expect paw-pad odor and the like to increase as pup hits maturity.
You should get your puppy accustomed to being bathed while he's little, though, so it's easier when he's a grownup. Mine get bathed every two months or so, give or take.

Franklin rarely ever gets a bath. He swims in the muddy gunky river every day and so occasionally his white on his chest will start to turn brown from the river and his collar, that indicates bath time, usually they are several months apart. I was also lucky with probably having the only corgi who doesn't really shed. I can brush him for a long time and not even get one comb full of hair. I got really lucky with that!

His coat looks so healthy and shiny!
SIdney is the same. He doesn't smell, I can take deep breaths nuzzling his fur and he just smells good. Like Jane said, the dirt just falls off. We were at the beach yesterday, he was frapping around on the sand and he was dirty. By the time we got home he was clean as can be. He only gets a bath 2-3 times a year; a bath is either prompted by him rolling in something that sticks, or else he needs to be especially clean for a therapy dog event. He doesn't shed much either. :)

Miley always smells great, I've given her one bath since she's been with us. She loves to dig and stick her face in the dirt she gets filthy but by the time we go in the evidence of her digging is minimal! She is only 11 weeks old but she doesn't seem to shed at all right now hopefully it'll stay that way!

WOW!! Great! Thanks for all the answers. I did a lot of research and even fostered a couple of corgis before we got him but nothing ever mentioned the bathing thing.

My three don't get that 'doggy smell' either. I noticed it when I got Teri (my first) as a puppy and was delighted to find it never changed and was the same with the next two (Nimh and Annie). I do bathe them occassionally, maybe once every two months or immediately if they've rolled in something hideous. Nimh gets bathed a bit more often since he's a therapy dog and wiggles right into bed with some of his nursing home friends.
All three shed like there's no tomorrow, though! ::sigh::

Rowdy didn't smell or shed until about 6 months and then he definitely needed bathing and brushing. I start my dogs young on grooming so it isn't such a shock when they actually need it. I brush him when he needs it (should do it everyday) and a bath once a month. he goes to the groomer for baths, nails, anal gland and a couple times a year for a cut due to the shedding. He loves the attention. My other dogs get a bath more often and he gets very jealous when I bathe them and not him.
