I called the vet today to see if he thought Wynn might have a UTI (and yes a small container taped to a marshmallow stick does work to collect urine specimens for our short legged friends)...he thinks it might be his prostrate but the good news...if it is his prostrate that getting him neutered should take care of the problem. Livvy is getting spayed and a hernia fixed this week and so Wynn might be having surgery the same day if it is his prostrate.
Has anyone had this problem? What did your vet suggest?

Rocky had an enlarged prostate and neutering was suggested. We had him neutered, for several reasons all health related, and he's been fine since.
Neutering will fix this issue. You can bring him to the vet and they can do a rectal exam and check is prostate. Sometimes just having females in heat around can also cause a flare up of the prostate. If he isn't being used for breeding anymore than neutering will fix the issue fastest. Intact males tend to have a higher risk of prostate cancer as well so I would definitely get him to the vet for at least a check up to rule out anything more serious.
Oh poor Wynn! I hope he is his old self soon. And best wishes for Livvy's sugery!
Wynn will be having surgery Thur. AM.
Wynn is doing great Beth...one less tooth and all:) He's going out slowly but regularly. Pill time will be the hardest...guess I'll have to bribe him.
How's Maddie doing?
She's ok. A little loopy from her meds, but she seems happy. Some mild hind end ataxia, but from all I've read that should fade--- it seems better the past couple of days.
Thanks Beth...he came through it fine and the wound looks good! No licking and the little stinker has started jumping on the couch and bed again!
