My dogs all know certain words like walk, dinner etc. Recently I noticed that if I say OOPS! while in the kitchen (I am not known for my culinary abilities) the corgis come running.. What have you inadvertently taught your dogs??

Oh, forgot to mention the most important word in her life. FRISBEE

I love this thread!  My boy and girl were so smart that we had to start spelling words as to not get them going.  Their 2 favorite words "Walk" and "Car".  If they saw us getting dressed or packing a suitcase they ran for the back door.  If we said to one another "let's go out to dinner, movie, date", all they would hear was "let's go" and they would run to the door.  We started living a life where we had to speel everything when we would talk.  It was funny!  Even after we lost our last one we  still catch ourselves spelling those words :)

My parents noticed their Chessie heads to her crate for bed when she hears the weather come on the nightly news. :-)

My Princess knows lots of words, if I say "where is your brother?"  She goes and barks at her corgi brother!  If I say "go find daddy", she will go find her dad.  Everyday I realize how smart corgis are!  That means I really have to on my toes with them, because they can outsmart me!  I love this post also.  Its amazing the things our furbabies can learn!

It always amazes me that they understand so much. I swear that Sparty actually reads my mind, meanwhile the doberman (a breed that makes the top ten for intelligence) is in "La la Land" most of the time. She understands sit ,dinner, kennel, and drop it only. I think she just relies on the corgis to tell her what to do most of the time.

my Jai understands the question opener "do you wanna". when i ask him "do you wanna (he starts tilting his head) - eat something?" or "do you wanna - go for a walk?", he gives me his paw enthusiastically. and when i ask him "do you wanna - go to your crate?" or "do you wanna - bye bye?" he stares at me and not move. and he can distinguish a command "go to your crate" (which he obeys) from a question "do you wanna - go to your crate?" (to which he always "says no" by not giving his paw).

The sound of the refrigerator door opening will bring them fast.  Don't know how they know, but if I get out the cheese they are underfoot in seconds.  They love cheese and usually will get a small sample.  When I open other things they could care less. We have to say GC when referring to the golf cart. They love riding in it.  And we do spell around them.

Oh my goodness, I swear Waffle can hear a cheese wrapper opening from anywhere in the house!

Tipper gets very excited when she hears the word "squirrel" and even reacts when I spell the word squirrel  so now I have to say "bushy tailed critter" whenever I want to refer to a squirrel without exciting her.

She knows the words "Eat" and "Out" and she knows what  "cat," "dog" and "rabbit" mean. She hates car rides so I try not to say "Car" because it upsets her when she hears it.

I'm always making up nicknames for her and I'm not sure if she's caught on to the more common ones like "shorty pants."

Great post,Bev!Keri will retreive toys by name, her fav is her snake.Boat is to jump in the kayak,go is to get in the F-150,plus many more. Our grandpup Logan stops in his tracks if Our daughter does the sound like she's scared, kinda like "uuuhhh".Corgis are just awesome listeners with those radar ears :)!

Corgis are scary smart. Lilli has a huge vocabulary, and is always listening. What surprises me the most is that she knows that "she" and "her" mean Lilliput. I'm the only other girl here and I never call myself by those words, but even so, aren't pronouns rather advanced? :)

Sam knows "Not food!", "Dinnertime", "Walkies", "Cleanup!", "Hup hup"(get in the car), and of course "No!"

He has a large vocabulary.
