That is so great! I get Guideposts and there was a story in there about a church that decided to let animals come to their services as long as they were quiet and on leashes, etc. (general good manners). Their church has really grown and since the people who love their animals are usually gentle and loving people, they are really a close community.

Ever since I read that, I've wanted to go to a church like that. There used to be several people in our church that would bring their dogs to work with them during the week (Secretary, Gardener, Book-keeper) and then some uptight people decided that they didn't like that and made it a rule that they don't want animals in the sanctuary any more. It is sad. I have a helper dog, who can go most everywhere I go, but I don't feel that I can take him there... :(

What a great story Kari. I know our Corgis are not human children, but they are part of God's wonderful creation and I remember the story of Jesus wanting the little children to come closer to Him, while it seemed the learned adults were trying to push them to the back of the crowd. I guess the adults thought the children might be a distraction. Some congregations even have separate worship for the children, because of that same reason. Jesus said, " We are to be like the little children." I think if we keep them out of site at the time we come together to worship, it is we adults that miss an opportunity to learn what Jesus wanted us to learn about becoming more like them. Worship is the gathering of the Family of God, young and old a like. Instead of being annoyed at a babies cry or a fidgeting toddler, we should be rejoicing in there presence and our chance to show our appreciation to the Mom and Dad for having and caring for the next generation of worshipers, that will help sustain and grow our congregations.

Just like a corgi, to keep everything "decent and in order" at your church--LOL!

I have to share with everyone that my female corgi goes to church every Sunday! Sort of. We have a little country church maybe 200ft from our house, its an old church and on the outside there is a little building that comes up following the steps to the basement and goes up far enough to sit right outside of the window by the pulpit. So when I walk to church I let Tess out and she follows me, the ladies bring her "treats" (leftovers, cookies, I even have one lady whom bakes the communion bread each month who bakes her a little loaf) anyway so she gets treats. Then when church starts she jumps on this little outbuilding and sits and watches everyone, so it looks like she is going to church! Everyone sits and watches her, and when our preacher gets a little windy and service goes over time, she gives little barks to let everyone know that its time we are suppose to be done! I know thats not good, but I have kept her home and everyone misses her so I dont have a choice! Rain, snow, or a hot day you can count on Tess to worship with us every Sunday! I had to share this with you all, I'll snap a picture sometime and share it with you. God Bless!

Merry Day After Christmas to Everyone. We had a wonderful Christmas and we hope all of you did as well. No calendar yet and I just heard there were no holes in them. I have a hole puncher and I guess it is good hand exercise to punch holes, I hope I get them in the right spot so the calendars don't hang crooked. The picture of Clancy was taken the last time a calendar showed up with no holes in it and he was watching me punch hole after hole. HO! HO! HO!

Hi from Barbara in Olympia Wa.
I posted some time ago asking if nayone had any ideas on how to slow down shedding in a Corgi, as my corgi was shedding like a 2 water buffalo and a Saint bernard. Anyway - here is what I did.

first - I gave him a hair cut - not a shave - just a short cut. That obviously did not stop the shedding - but it cut down onthe amount of hair by about 80-90%. THEN, I started adding 2-3 drops of lugols iodine to his drinking water. this was an attempt to control chronic dirreah - which resulted from giardia. he came with giardia and hook worms - and was treated and retreated. He just never got over having dirreah pretty often.

anyway - now he sheds like a normal dog - and he has normal bathroom habits. this makes him just about a perfect pet - as he is the sweetest little fellow you could ever have for a pet.

You can do a search on lugol's iodine if you are interested. I was trying to control the recurring giardia. Dramatically slowing his shedding was a bonus that I was not expecting.
