30 year old photo - Rookie, w. baby Lindsay

Rookie loved Lindsay and was always there protecting her. I can't imagine ever worrying about how Rookie would react to the birth of Lindsay, our first baby. I also can't imagine keeping them apart. Prior to our babies, Rookie was always with me. No matter how late I'd be up working, he'd be right there with his regal head on my foot. He was incensed when we came home with a new Corgi, Maggie. Maggie was 14 wks. and Rookie was 6 mo. He tried every which way to keep from entering a room. When she persevered, he pushed her into our pool. Eventually they became inseparable best friends. But, Maggie never was devoted to the babies like Rookie. Maybe Rookie just kept them to himself.

How do I ever get over losing my best friend? I had to make the awful decision to send her over The Bridge on Oct 10 2011. Still to this day I cry over losing her. I do have a new puppy coming Feb…Continue

Time helps. But for me, the biggest help was getting Lucy. She filled the house with joy and laughter again. Are you feeling ready to contact a Corgi rescue in your area?

Been a hard day today for me-- missing my Riley terrible, I watched a episode of Last Chance Highway and wow that is all it took-- the tears and the happiness of others finding another special dog to love after a loss of another shortly before. Oh my what a tear jerker. We have our new little guy and I love him to,but he is my daughter's and well I am longing for my own dog again, I miss my Riley so much and when he died -a big part of me died inside.. It has been 3 months now and it still hurts like yesterday. I have been starting to search for another corgi to bring into our home for me - but also to keep Toby company and for another to play with since he came from abused situation--he is so happy now and adjusting so well- but like I say my daughter's dog-- But right now our finances are so strapped so to find another at what I can afford is difficult. I would like to find another male or female corgi preferably 2-3 years that is well balanced without alot of fears-since our Toby is scared to death of his own shadow, to teach him not to be afraid and to run in the backyard and play to chase the squirrels-- he did the other day for the first time and oh my the tears of happiness came to me.. I miss Riley chasing those Squirrels and believe it or not I think they miss him too- cause they donot understand why Toby will not chase them..lolol .. When does this hurt end?? I am just glad I found this group that understands my grief right now.. thank you for listening... Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.....

I understand what you are going through about Kazi. Our Maaya (1st corgi) passed away little more than 2 years ago. We have Hana who is 13 weeks, but Maaya has a speacil place in our hearts. Sometimes when I think about her I start crying too, because I miss her and wished that she was still with us.

Yesterday was sad for me too ! This is the first holiday without my sweet baby Kazi:( Everyday is still very hard for me. It has been almost 2 1/2 months since my baby left me. I also have a new baby Kiya, She is 12 weeks old and I love her so much BUT no corgi will ever replace my sweetheart. It is so hard not to cry still and I miss him more than words can ever describe :(

Ty for your kind words, today has been very difficult for me,since it has been 2 months today that we lost Riley.. I love our new little guy Toby, but he is more my daughter's dog and Riley was mine and well I never imagined how much I struggle everyday without him. But Toby and I are bonding to, I think today I realized how much this little guy means to me too.. He came from a very abused situation and he is only 19 months old, and I think not only did we rescue him-but he rescued us as well..Corgi's are such special wonderful little dogs and I cannot ever imagine not having one,if I could afford to I would love to get another one,so Toby could have a playmate.... Hope everyone is having a nice holiday,Toby does not like these fireworks at all very scared so we are giving him lots of special attention today..

I think of all the Corgis that have shared our lives and miss them all. While no Corgi takes the place of those from before, it sure is a comfort to have added more Corgis to your family. I love the photo of your corgis sleeping, like mirror images! BTW, did you name Edward after the Corgi in Accidental Tourist. I love the name Edward.

Thanks for sharing a photo of your beloved Corgi, Riley. I'm so glad you joined this group and especially happy that you got a new baby. Nothing helped me more in the grieving process than bringing another Corgi into our family. Wishing you lots of joy with Toby.

@ Kazi...It's going to take some time and will always bring tears to your eyes occasionally! In time the wonderful memories help us but we never forget those wonderful moments in our lives! So sorry for your loss!
