Our vet told us it typically is the grains they are allergic too, the natural balance dogfood uses unusual proteins and carbs that they dont normally have a problem with. Its a process of elimination from the diet, no treats, weird foods even becareful of chew toys, but its worth it. Corky had a hotspot on his little stub and a couple in his sides and he was ALWAYS scratching and biting at himself, poor thing was just miserable. And its not overnight like i said it took I would say a good 6 weeks! But it was gradually noticeable over a week that it was getting less and less the scratching. But he is clear now and much happier, me too!

Our little guy has these scratching fits that seem to go on a bit too long. He also sneezes up to four times in a row! We've yet to determine what it is exactly, but we're sure that his allergies are as bad as daddy's.

Ohh poor thing! I can't believe shes allergic to dust too! Poor little girl! I'm sorry you've both had to go the super expensive food route for your little ones. Their worth it though. Soon, corgi's will take over the world. :)

I actually joined mycorgis cuz when i got my puppy he had a ba rash on his belly and he scratched ALL the time to the point it kept us up at night. we took him to the vet and she decided it was food related so we took him off canidae and put him on Natural Balance. It seemed to help but took a couple months to toally clear up. I ended up using the duck and potato as the fish one made him smell like a fish and the venison gave him a rather strong smell as well. i also gave him vitamin e and omega 3 as its good for the skin. He is now 5 months and seems much better no more all hours of the night scratching!!!

I'm so happy for your little guy, that is great. Starting at about 9 months of age (Molly turned two last October) she started chewing on her paws really badly along with being itchy all over. We went to her vet and tried allergy pills which helped a little but not a lot. Saw a doggie dermatologist and did both a food trial where she only ate duck and eventually did a skin test. From the skin test I found she is allergic to dust, grass, various pollens and a bunch of other stuff. The food trial helped reveal that she is allergic to chicken and dairy (mainly that is just trying different foods then watching her itch). It is really a bummer because I have to buy expensive food and she gets shots once a week. She still ithches a bit but she isn't trying to rip her skin off which is key.

Today we took our little man to the vet and they gave him a benadryl & dexamethazone shot for the allergies. This is the first time since he was a puppy that he did not have a reaction to the rabies shot. The Vet said he did very well with the new combination.

I'm hope your little girl can find relief to the allergy. What sort of reaction does she have? How old is she?

My little man is allergic to his rabies shot. The vet has to give him an antihistamine shot before thr rabies. If he doesn't get the shot, he gets super sick for 5 days after, vomitting, lethargic, and really thirsty. Thats soo sad your little cutie is allergic to grass. Maybe check with your vet about an antihistamine injection for her.
