training class

Posted on January 16, 2010 at 2:41pm 11 Comments

I won a free obedience class recently and today was my first class in basic obedience. I took Rosie and during the class Rosie was doing pretty good, but she got to barking and I kept trying to get her to settle down, but Rosie always barks when she gets overly excited. Towards the end of the class the instructor yelled that Rosie was pissing her off. So I took Rosie out of the ring and we left. I understand that Rosie's barking was annoying, but I was trying my best to get her to settle down.… Continue

Bad day at work helped by corgi love

Posted on September 10, 2009 at 7:43pm 8 Comments

I just started a new job and I feel so over my head. I came home in tears and when I opened the door there were my two sweet smiling corgi babies. Loving those two is the best medicine in the world. I still think I got into a job that I am not smart enough to handle, but corgis make me think everything will work out somehow.

6 month old corgi puppy at Peoria Illinois Shelter

Posted on September 5, 2009 at 11:37am 5 Comments

Someone left a six month old male tri-color corgi at the shelter's front gate. He has been there since August 22, 2009, so his time is limited. He really needs a home ASAP!

Nice to meet fellow MyCorgi.com members

George and Rosie went to Bark in the Park and we met some other MyCorgi members and their sweet corgis. We really had a lot of fun even though the weather was really warm.

Corgi needs rescued from Peoria Animal Shelter (PAWS)

Posted on October 13, 2008 at 9:40pm 1 Comment

There is a male corgi who was picked up as a stray and is now at the Peoria, Illinois Animal Shelter (PAWS). He needs a home. The shelter has to keep him for five days to see if his owner claims him, but if they don't he only has a short time. Their telephone number, if anyone is interested, is (309) 494-8700. Does anyone know who does corgi rescue in Central Illinois?

I canceled the Illinois Corgi Picnic due to the weather.

I wanted to make sure you knew so you did not drive to Freeport on Sunday.

I wrote the statement below and added it to the event's discussion....

Yes, we need to cancel the picnic. :(

The shelter manager wrote me yesterday and again today and stated that it is supposed to rain all weekend and that she just assumed that we would not be having the picnic this weekend. So I wrote and told her that we will cancel.

The weather now says.... Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1pm, then a chance of showers. Temperature rising to near 64 by 10am, then falling to around 56 during the remainder of the day. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

So it will be windy as well as wet.

I like Stephanie's idea of sending a donation to Friend's Forever Shelter. I was thinking of doing that myself last night. Then the dog food, treats, and the paper towels I have purchased will go to my local shelter next week.

Sorry, guys. Mother nature did not cooperate this year.

I just noticed that you are about 1 1/2 hours from where I live in Champaign/Urbana.

Last May we had a new event called CORGI-CON at the Urbana Dog Park.  There were 23 Corgis playing together that day.  You might want to attend that in 2013.  Watch for it next spring on the MyCorgi EVENTS page.
Here is a link to the pictures from CORGI-CON 2012.

I love the coloring of your babies!  They are both beautiful!  I really love your pictures, too!  I feel the same way about my babies, after a long day at work, they are so great to come home to.  A wiggly furry butt can really make me smile!

thanks for the opossum tip - we have yet to deal with that - but after reading about the cat box issues u have - Luna has this interesting habit of earning her "treat" and then refusing to eat it. She carries it with her ALL day, like a pacifier. Imagine a milkbone sticking out of your dog's mouth ALL day. Now Kai, our other dog, has severe eating issues, so his function all day is trying to figure out how to get that treat OUT of her mouth..... Very interesting household.

Thanks Laurie! Even though Trice isn't officially home with us yet we have gone out and bought so much doggie stuff. We go back to see him this weekend and the breeder said his ears may be erected up by then. Can't wait! BTW I just added the Tri-Colored Corgis group. =)

Laurie - George sure DOES chase the cats (Tom & Ollie) in fact I think it's one of his favorite past times. We were initially concerned, but then we realized that the cats were actually coming back for more. Now we just let'em at it and the three of them go in circles. Best part is when they "change direction" and the cats chase HIM.
