Picked up Orion's foster sister today. Someone got her from a breeder at five weeks old and kept her until she was eight weeks old when family with five kids under eight adopted her and had her for a week then she apparently nipped one of the kids and the dad told the mom that if she didn't get rid of the dog he would kill the dog. So now I'm fostering her or may be adopting her depending on how she gets along with Orion.

They both got some treats (Orion got his first) and they're in bed now. She's a sweet little girl and pretty spunky. Any tips on integrating her into the house so that Orion doesn't feel threatened would be greatly appreciated!

Aww, I hope her life gets much better from now on. She is really cute and may turn out to be a failed foster if you end up keeping her. I can not imagine the trauma of so many homes in such a short time period. She needs love and very consistent training no matter how sorry you may feel for her. Best of luck to her!

Joanna is right. Orion is very much a pup. Your rescue should let you know her duration of stay, informed you about their vaccination plan, when and where to get her spayed, microchipped...etc. Since she is a pup, she should get adopted before having a chance to settle in. You mentioned that she is your first foster, I'm sure your rescue have already taught you all the basics and have confidence in you. Let us know if you have any specific questions. Congrats and good luck!

Monica, she is adorable! I am glad you came into her life - she had been through so much at such a young age, more than she should have been! With your positive attitude and treatment she will blossom, as Jane says, but remember she does come with baggage even as young as she is - good luck. Keep us informed of her progress. What a nice looking pair of tris!

OMG what a terrible life for such a young thing. I'm so glad you were able to get her. No one should be selling a pup at 5 weeks! Joanna has some very good points! I also think they will become pals very easily. Remember she comes with this baggage and she will have to learn what it is to have a good home and she will blossom with positive treatment and training. Good luck and keep us updated. They do make quite a stunning pair of corgis!

Orion's just a baby too, right? You don't need to worry about him feeling threatened or anything like that; they will both recognize each other as fellow babies and play.

Your biggest challenge with the new girl will be bite inhibition. Puppies that are sold too early are very, very prone to biting too hard (which is, I am sure, what happened with the prior home). Read everything you can on training bite inhibition in puppies and get going on that right away.

She's also "unvaccinated" right now. I don't care how many times somebody gave her a shot; the timing was all wrong and right now she's unprotected. So many homes in such a short time leaves a puppy open to illness in a way that she'd never be if you had just bought her from a good breeder. Find out when the last time she was vaccinated was and time a shot to three weeks after that (my guess would be this week or next) and before that's done DO NOT take her out and about. She no doubt needs to be wormed too, poor lamb.

Good luck and please keep us updated.

I'm glad you have her; that was a ludicrus home for her. The only tips I can give is to feed them not next to each other and if you crate them, don't put their crates next to each other. Giving Orion his treat first sounds like a good idea to me.
