Today is May 6, and exactly 2 months ago, Tucker found his forever home with us.  We are getting to know each other more and more as time passes by.  I have definately become more comfortable with their play, and wow, Tucker likes to play rough!!!  All in all they are doing really great together, there are times where I need to stop them before it esclates too much, and you definatley know when enough is enough!   We are working on the jealousy, Tucker likes to get right up in our lap to say hello, nudges his way closer and closer and Lance will try to dominate Tucker if he feels Tucker is getting to much attention according to Lance.  Any advice on handling the jealousy would be great.  Lance also likes to bark his head off as to say stop paying attention to him.

Personality differences seem to be like night and day.  Tucker is soooo calm in so about every situation, it continues to amaze me.  Lance can definately be calm, but then there are situations that he just can not be calm about, like company coming over, out on a walk, when there are people, dogs out and about.  We had my daughters friend over and she was getting quite annoyed with all of Lances barking because he will not stop barking despite our very hard efforts. She told him she thought he was soooo annoying..and he jumped up and plopped himself right down next to her and didnt bark, LOL.  See hes not annoying.  :)  We are working on that as its not fun for anyone.  I am thinking about getting him a calming collar from www.calmingcollars.com.  He seems to not relax when we have company over.

Yesterday, I took Tucker for a walk with my daughter and went and got ice cream cones, and then stopped at CVS, Tucker and I waited right outside the doors, but boy I was kinda tempted to bring him in...hehe, thats how quiet he is.  No, I really wouldnt bring him in.  We had three people stop and ask, is he a corgi!?!  One boy even came out from a shop and asked, can I pet your corgi?  Tucker handles it all in stride, no barking whats so ever....what, so strange...lol.  Lance would be barking his head off, while of course wagging his tail non stop.  Lance did not accompany us on this trip as he was home with a sore paw.  :(

Lance has spent his time resting in the kitchen with his sore paw, and Lance and Tucker were both so calm about it.  Today Lance was like enough is enough and was starting to whine, because he is tired of being cooped up.  I just didnt want him and Tucker playing to rough and reinjuring his paw.  He has a slight limp, but seems to be doing better.  We had beautiful weather, so Lance was outside with us on his lead, and was loving every minute of it, walking in the fresh cut grass making his paws green as can be.

I really am amazed how well that Tucker has adapted, it seemed immediate, like he really wasn't a rescue dog, but he is.  He must have had good training with his first owner, or maybe it was with the other two that eventually got rid of him for really lame reasons.  Maybe it was with the volunteer from the shelter that had him for a month before she realized it wasnt going to work with her corgi and Tucker.  Apparently, the volunteers corgi didnt like Tucker at all.   It is all really a mystery, not really knowing the facts for sure. I feel like Tucker puts our training to shame at times :O  We have had Lance since a puppy and still working on some things we would like to change and well we bring Tucker home from the shelter and really is making this a joy that we did. :)

I am soooo glad all is working out. I have found with my rescues that I believe they are soooooo happy that they have a good home they do behave better even if they have to learn a few things. Hope Lance's paw heals soon!

Congratulations on the 2 months!

Even if it doesn't work *perfectly*, I'd think an imperfect companion is better than no companion at all.

And Lance looks so cool, he's just gotta have a buddy.

So glad things are going well!
