what should I do?
Hey everyone....
So after visiting the Phoenix,AZ pet expo, I filled out an app to become a proud owner of a corgi from the cactus corgi rescue...if everything goes as planned and she is officially part of the family, my one question is, should I worry about cropping her tail, or let it go? She has a really long tail, which doesn't bother me, but everyone I've talked to says crop it, although since she's already 2 yrs old, I don't wanna put her through that if I don't have to...any opinions?

I don't see anyone giving Preston a hard time here - everyone is validating his feelings. From the tone of his question, it's clear he didn't want to crop her tail. We're backing him up.

Actually I was getting worried expecting a phone call by now to set up the appt for her to visit, then I got the phone call today, she had told me unfortunately one of the dogs at the rescue was sick and didn't make it so they were dealing w/ that, but she is bringing Kandy over tomorrow morning so hopefully things goes well and she will be a part of the family very soon!

All the best to you & your new family member. Hope everything goes smoothly. Here in Queensland Australia, Pembroke corgis no longer have their tails docked. We are now seeing Pembrokes with tails just like the Cardigan but held a little higher. Some curl up & some are bushy & held straight out. I love my Cardi tails, love the Pems with tails too. Too late to dock his tail now. Let the tail wag, i say:x)

We will have her today! So excited! She came for her house visit yesterday and it went very well...found out lots more about her, she was actually dropped off in the desert here in Phoenix and found wondering by some hikers, I can't imagine doing that to her! She's so sweet and very smart, she knows lots of tricks so I beleive she was taken care of at one point in time so not sure how she ended up getting dropped off, but lucky for me I guess, cause I will definately give her a loving home.

Glory in her lovely tail and post lots of pics for us.
Scientists in the US are allowed to snip 1/16" off the tip of a mouse's tail (skin, not bone) to get DNA. If we cut off more, or make it bleed, we get in big trouble from our Institutional Animal Care And Use Committee.
Could anybody even find a vet who'd be willing to amputate a dog's tail?
