Male Corgi - Terrible Aim

Hello All,

I see stories of owners who only bathe their Corgis once a year or so, and I can't fathom how that's possible! You see, Marcus suffers from a very common (human) male ailment... he has TERRIBLE aim. Half the time when he tries to lift his leg, he pees on his belly, the backs of his front paws... even his face! We are getting him neutered next week, and I was wondering if anyone had experience as to whether or not that helped the matter any. He's 13 months old now and hasn't been lifting his leg for too awful long (he still squats late at night when he's tired), so I am wondering if maybe he will "learn" how to not pee all over himself?

I know with humans you can always train them with Cheerios in the toilet, but I can't fathom that "accuracy" is a skill that I can train him, is it?

Another good thing for a laugh - Marcus likes pooping uphill. He'll raise his rear as high as he can up the side of a tree, then spaz out when the poop comes rolling down at him! Poor buddy... I don't want to distract him while he's doing this and have him think pooping is bad though....

HA! Ein likes to poop at the bases of trees and bushes too... very funny to watch! So far he doesn't make it high enough up the tree to have it "roll" back at him... lol

yup, my boys regularly pee on each other's feet when the 3 of them line up and have a go

I still giggle at Poodeck, he lifts so high sometimes I think he will over balance one day. But now I am thinking this is a good thing. Good luck!

I am still laughing and picturing all these guys. Wynn is an expert and never gets himself but he does occasionally have to adjust his leg and almost falls over he lifts it so high!

Here's another one for a chuckle. When my OH carries Aber out for his pee (Aber's handicapped and really dislikes his chair, so he gets carried and wheelbarrowed around) the two younger dogs feel the need to pee where Aber has. Today, Ragnar tried to pee on Aber's pee and got OH's right foot. Not to be outdone, Kelso aimed for the same pee spot from the other side and, you guessed it, got OH's left foot!

They will also stack poos on top of each other, which I like to think takes talent--otherwise I'd be terribly disturbed by it.

I am glad to know that I am not alone. Mine pees all over himself, and he doesn't seem to care. His belly always gets hit, but all four paws are fair game as well. Going to the dog park and seeing other dogs pee has not helped. What I have resorted to is wiping him down with baby wipes as soon as we step into the house. (I have given up with the car, and I just cover everything with towels that I switch out.) Besides that, he gets a bath at least once a week. Despite my diligence sometimes he jumps up on my legs before I can clean him up. I've bought more pairs of jeans, and I do a lot of laundry. Legolas is only a year and a half old, so like someone down-thread said, maybe with time the problem will resolve itself. But, yes, I feel ridiculous wiping my corgis' wee-wee... I keep telling myself that it is prep experience for when I have a human baby!

Two days if I am lucky. He is really good at the sneak attack kisses. They come out of nowhere! My pants have no hope. Thank goodness I don't have to dress up for work.

If I were you I wouldn't wear shorts. And as far as my aim I am a really good shot. I think I resemble that remark. YAY for Marcus. Keep practicing.

I realize now that I sound gross and unclean by only stating the max. The other day I had to change pants by 10:30am (I didn't get up until 8). So far, that is the minimum. Ridiculous...
