Our newest furry member of the family (Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy) arrived to us from the breeder extremely sick with roundworm, stomach bacteria and chronic vomit attacks. Poor little thing!  :(

I created a website to caution others. Be sure it is from a reputable breeder. I was given a 100% health guarantee and upon accepting her offer, she did not follow through. I am not only out hundreds of dollars on this poor little Corgi puppy ... but also at $500 in vet bills, medication and bland diet food. We are hoping she pulls through. Send us warm, fuzzy thoughts!!

In addition, the reason for the website  http://corgibreederalert.wordpress.com is to alert others of the breeder. I have asked her for some compensation for the vet and this is when all email communication has stopped. She is no longer responding back.  =(

I hope it all works out ok! If she made you sign a contact or you have that guarantee in writing, you can take her to small claims court.

We're keeping our fingers crossed too!!!!!

So sorry for what you are going through.  We start our puppies early on a de-worming schedule and rotate our wormers to be sure that we are not missing anything, the best we can.  Sometimes things still arise.. but we do our best to give a great start in our puppies along with (vet prescription wormers - that you can only purchase from vet) not the store-bought Over The Counter; needless to say although that deworms, it's not as great a quality.  As a responsible breeder we rely on our Vets to be totally involved in our program providing quality meds and care for our puppies before they leave.  Although your one year health guarantee only covers a few things such as most Genetics and disorders that may arrise; we do also mention that our dogs are kept on a worming schedule and are up to date on shots at time of purchase to help alleviate spending the extra dollars on more meds and vaccines.  I'm so sorry for you and that she's not responding.. although she could provide a replacement puppy and or hold up to her health guarantee in which (whatever she mentioned) should be covered..  It's a horrible thing parasites.. They seem to be everywhere.. hence keeping dogs and puppies on a rotated program...is very beneficial .. and treating farm and yards with natural detour-ants of those pesky deadly bugs.. Blessings & Thoughts your way.

Gosh Tamra, I am so so sorry that you and your family are having to go through this. And your poor sick puppy :( Poor thing. I don't know if you mentioned this or anything but have you tried calling of emailing? Do you have any other means of communication besides email?

I can not comment on the dispute between you and the breeder because that really depends on the contract you have. Personally I don't think the contract means much because usually a sick puppy must be returned. Most of us are unwilling to return our baby! However, one of our dogs has a very weak stomach and does very well on prescription dog food. Any other food causes diarrhea, maybe your pup is one of those. Hoping for the best for your little pup.
