I have a four month old lab/corgi mix. When should I switch her to adult dog food? Some people say if the dog is big switch young, some say if the dog is small wait till its a year. But what if my dog is a mix between big an small :/ when should I switch?

Switch young. Corgis are in fact a med/large breed dog with no legs not a small dog. They develop more like a large dog so you should feed them like one. For this reason you should also never feed them a small breed food.
Thank you for your help. Ate what age should I switch her though? She is at 4months right now.

I agree with Melissa. They should be fed a large breed puppy food till at least 18 months or grain free all life stages with about 24-25% protein can be used now and you never have to change except you can feed higher protein after 18 months.. the small breed food has way to much protein for their developement which takes close to 2 years:)

What I'm afraid of is iv heard that if you feed them puppy food till there a year old it can cause them to develope to fast and doesn't allow them to grow strong bones. And I know the corgi breed are prone to hip displasia. Opinion?
If you feed a large breed puppy it is formulated to compensate for bone growth. If you look at the nutritional breakdown large breed puppy is generally the same as all life stages.

I've always fed a quality all-life-stages food.  Then there's no need to switch.  Puppy food is kind of designed to grow your pup big and fast.  You don't get those awkward growth spurts when they're not fed puppy food--they just grow slowly and steadily.

Hmmmm.. I never knew all this! Tucker ate Blue Buffalo puppy until he was a year. I didn't get him until he was 6 months old and I figure he was fed crap before then. Interesting... hope I didn't mess him up!
