I posted on here a little while ago about possibly switching Chase to a homemade dog food diet, instead of kibble.
Since then we have talked with Dr. Lindsay (Chase's vet) and she highly reccomended the switch and added that she would encourage more pet parents to do the same, if they had the time and funds to do so.
Good news!
Unfortunately, she did not have any recipes to start us out on because she doesn't have very many pet parents that are interested or able to make homemade food for their pets.
I have been doing some research and I have found a few recipes that I will be sending to her for a "stamp of approval" but I would first like to know if anyone has recipes that they use for their Corgis. I would like to find something that meets his specific nutritional needs as a Corgi.
If anyone has any recipes that they would like to share I would really appriciate it!!
Thank you!!

I don't but would be interested in seeing yours!

I have a few Corgi books that mention some potential ideas for home made or raw food specifically for Corgis, I could dig them up and see if they have anything helpful, if you wan't.

I would love to read them! But only if you want to go through the trouble. What are the names of the books? Maybe I could find them online.

I'm sorry I didn't see this! I thought I was supposed to get an email update on the thread and I didn't!  I'll check tonight and get back at you.

Sorry, Sorry!

Try this book.  Written by a holistic vet, really simple easy to follow recipes.

Have you seen it? Just wondering....I might have to check it out!

Gosh, I haven't been on here for a while---I'm so sorry!   I should have answered you sooner.

Yes, I have a copy and it's a great book.  Once we're finally moved and settled, I plan to use it.

Your local library probably has some dog recipe books to try before you buy.  I've made Griffin's food in the past but I'm always worried he won't get all the vitamins he needs.  It's hard to pin down exactly what he's missing if I cook for him.  Every book has a different viewpoint--very confusing!

This book has been around awhile " Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog (Howell Reference Books) by Wendy Volhard and Kerry Brown (May 24, 2000) "  but it has excellent information on nutrition. Jack Volhard was a highly respected dog trainer and his wife Wendy specialized in dog nutrition.  Wendy advocated home made diets when they were not popular.  Jack and Wendy raised Newfoundlands, which they showed in breed and obedience.  If you have the wrong diet, it will show up in spades in a giant breed like that!  I attended a couple of their workshops many years ago and Wendy definitely knew what she was talking about. I would check out her book.

Thanks Anna! I just ordered one!

I am checking out both of these books as we speak.
I don't know why I never even thought of checking the library for some recipe books! I will have to do that this afternoon.
I am very excited to get started with some homemade recipes for Chase, though I will not be doing this until after we've moved in order to make sure that his tummy can adjust without the stress.
I am very excited to start making these meals for Chase. Though, my fiance is jealous that I will cook for the dog but not for him! haha
