bloody poo
Yesterday I posted about Becca suddenly not wanting to eat. Turns out it is not just being finicky. I got out of the shower this morning and she had 3 puddles of bloody diarhea in the kitchen. I am totally freaking out because I can't leave work until at least noon. It is step up day and the fourth graders come to the middle school to meet us and go over everything. (Last year I went two days after surgery, it can not opt out)
What do I do other than call my vet ASAP. I'm thinking she got may have ingested pieces of a stick. She has been chewing like a madwoman on anything and everything. Help...I will be able to check my email a few times this morning.

Can you drop her by the vet on your way to work? Or get a friend to take her? That`s terrible!

It is probably too late now but I would drop her at the vet on your way to work. They should be able to work with you on this, mine would just charge a boarding fee if it isn't serious. Good luck, hope she is OK.

The vet didn't open until 8 (I had to be at work at 7), and all my friends also have to work today. She has an appointment at 2. I will be able to go check on her at 12ish. If she is worse then I will call and see if I can drop her off.

Just went and checked on Becca. No more poo! She is still subdued. I'm not sure if she has had any water. Vet at 2, I'll post again after we get home. Wish us luck.

We just got home a bit ago. The vet thinks Becca has an infection. I have antibiotics and an anti-diarrheal to give her for the next week. Bland diet this weekend, then phase into the next food. At least I have the Honest Kitchen to help transition to a new kibble. I still don't know what food to pick at this point. It feels overwhelming today. TOTW was convenient because the local feed store carries it (I just returned the bag I had left). They have a few other premium foods but all in huge bags. The nearest pet store is 40 minutes away. How do other people in rural areas get their pet food? I always try to buy my next bag when I'm at half a bag and stock up on canned cat food when possible.

There are lots of online places to buy quality dog food. I have no affiliation with any of them but try Amazon, Dog Food Direct, and just Google dog food. The shipping rates vary from place to place. I've bought from Dog Food direct and since I live in the midwest, they are in MN, the shipping isn't bad.

A dog my mom rescued did this the first night she had her, turned out it was just some inflammatory/ minor infection in the digestive tract and after 2 days of meds it went away. The dog only needed a weeks worth and she was good as new.

Becca is acting much more like herself this morning. She has been running around with her duck since we got up. A friend is going to stop in and check on her today. Then I can go to Portland (an hour away) and find a replacement dog food. No poop yet today, but she usually doesn't do that until we go for our real walk. Thank you for you support yesterday. I was in a major panic.
