Well, just got back from the vet because Sparty has been limping again. Unfortunately our original belief that the surgery got all the cancer was wrong...there is another tumor. I am crushed... I don't have all the information yet but things don't look good. He will be 13 in a couple weeks and I am not going to put him through another amputation and radiation in order to gain maximum of a year more. We plan to let him enjoy his remaining time as long as pain meds work. He gets to be my wonderful, grumpy little boy for a little longer.

Just look at that sweet face! He's been so lucky to have you to care for him. Give Sparty a belly rub from me.
Oh no, Sparty... :( That is so unfortunate to hear Bev. I hope he can enjoy his days with you in comfort.
So sorry, Bev. Lots of corgi hugs and prayers coming your way!
Oh my gosh.....I'm am so very sorry! I believe, too, that you are making the right decision as hard as it is to make. Please give him smooches and belly rubs from us.
We are so sorry to hear this. So many things run thru my mind, be strong, you are making the right decision, and all that....but it still sucks. It really sucks. Im really sorry.
Thanks everyone! I will keep you informed as I learn more so far we are just a little in shock..
I wouldn't put him through all that either if he's only expected to live another year. Better to live with his current number of toes than have him spend the next year in a cast and therapy. I'm so sorry to hear about Sparty, but look at that face. It doesn't seem to be getting him down much. :] Better to dwell on that happy grin than his worrisome toes--at least for now.
Hi Bev, I am so sorry to hear the news. I pray for your strength and Sparty's comfort.
Bev, Sparty doesn't know what's going on, and if he did, he wouldn't let foreboding dim the joy, so don't you, either.
He's only got one life to live with you, so finish it with grace & style.
....But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain;
The best laid schemes o' mice an' men,
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief and pain,
For promised joy.
Still thou art blest, compared wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But Och, I backward cast my e'e
On prospects dear
An' forward, though I canna see,
I guess an' fear. Robert Burns, "To a Mouse"
Sorry to hear, keep the faith, it may not be as bad as you think. Corgi hugs for the whole family!
