We found our next home! 12+ acres....we are very excited and I can't wait to get out there so the dogs can run and have fun. We're going to have some chickens (well protected of course), maybe a sheep or two and a cow for Seanna and Jackson to herd, and some horses (boarding). My husband and I are also talking of opening a dog rescue.....
Stay tuned!
PS: It comes with wild turkeys!!

Well, Jackson can help you with the chicks...he learned after injuring one when he 1st came to our house what NOT to do:)
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Goats are good too but an FYI with them is they start thinking they're dogs...ours play with the corgis and follow them everywhere. We just moved our goats to the other site this year and Tank has brought them back to visit a couple times...they spend a few hours and then someone has to take Tank on a leash and they follow him back home...little devils!
That's funny!! I'd like to get the fainting goats just because I think they're hilarious, but I'd feel bad if they kept fainting because the dogs were barking at them. Maybe we'll just let them chase the turkeys... :-)
I've never had goats either, so I've been reading on them, and I can't stand to sell them for meat, and the dehorning traumatized me just reading about it, so not sure on that area yet.
Horses are a for sure though, and the chickens....hopefully Jackson remember's how to treat them!!
Congrats, how exciting!!!
Looks beautiful! Congratulations
What a fun looking future!!
Congratulations! I'm so jealous! I love turkeys and horses and sheep and goats!
And a dog rescue! Oh man, that's my dream life right there! :)
You really deserve it, you're a great person! <3 I'm sure all the poopsters will love it too! (Best it's not me anyhow, Ziggy would put all that land to waste and not explore it anyhow hehehe.)
Wow, awesome!
My corgis LOVE to herd our chickens....all I say is "CHICKENS?"...they run out in back and look for the sneakers who got in the garden...then I yell "HERD EM UP!" and away they go...they have never tried to once bite one, but do keep an eye on them and punish them if they think they can get them. I'm very excited for you and the gang:) You all will have a blast!!!!!
Does the acreage come with a home or do you have to build? Looks like a beautiful area. Congratulations!!!
I don't know if you'd want to earn some extra cash by purchasing two or three sheep to use for a fee for families with herding dogs. I go with a client occasionally to see her four Border Collies herd at a farm not too far from here. The owner charges a fee for a certain amount of time. It was a load of fun watching them try to herd the sheep. The older BC had been herding for awhile, so she did great. The others had different rates of success. One BC managed to just corner the sheep and they would freeze in the corner rather than moving at all. Another just kept getting into the water trough rather than trying to herd the sheep. All in all, it was very entertaining to watch them herd and even those with limited success had a great time.
It does come with a house...:-)
Think I've decided no goats...unless it's older ones who have already had the mean stuff done to them...
I never thought about letting others come herd....that's a great idea!!
Congratulations! The pups will have a blast! Scout LOVES her new yard. I think you have moved to corgi (and other dog) paradise by getting 12 acres.
